Left 4 Dead 2 Cold Stream DLC hits Mac, PC; 360 delayed

Valve has finally let loose the much-anticipated Cold Stream DLC pack for Left 4 Dead 2, but the Xbox 360 version is AWOL.

“We are working with Microsoft on a release schedule. We don’t have an ETA yet but we hope to have it out soon,” the dev team said on Twitter.

Cold Stream is based on a community campaign which Valve liked well enough to make official; it includes the maps Cold Stream, Blood Harvest, Crash Course, Dead Air, Death Toll and No Mercy, as well as some “surprises”, mwa ha. It’s free on Mac and PC but will be 560 MS Points for Xbox 360.

If this DLC has blindsided you, you have only yourself to blame; it was announced as far back as February last year and has been wallowing in Valve time ever since. We’ve only had the release date for just over three weeks, naturally.

Thanks, Joystiq.

You can buy L4D2 on Steam for £3.74 right now, probably less than what the dlc alone will cost on xbox.

True, though if you are playing with folk you know on the 360 you are probably locked in.

I’ve tried playing L4D2 so many times, but I think Killing Floor has just ruined it for me. Slow zombies are just more fun.

Nobody cares about yet another dlc cash in for a zombie game which runs on a 1996 Quake engine.

@4

Its free on the PC and the source engine scales far better than any engine to date. MS makes them have to price their DLC its why Valve pulled back support for the 360 version.

the source engine is a derivative of Gold source engine its not the same engine it was for quake. Nice try with trolling 1/10

So is Cold Stream still as horrible as it was when it was first released for testing?

Did they change anything?

#4 – Set up your sarcasm detector manually, genius.

I don’t know if I should even rate you post..

Anyway, I’m really surprised this is still popular.

Its been changed quite a bit. Its much more faun than it was in the testing phase. I would say much easier to play through.

@3, almost everything about KF is more fun.

I actually played on a modded L4D server earlier which had a points system which allowed you to spend your points on stuff similar to the KF trader, but it is very much shoe-horned in and doesn’t work that well when you’re being raped by zombies.
