New games journalism awards launch

The Games Journalism Prizes awards have launched in the UK. It’s been set up by a non-profit group in the UK, and is to be judged by the likes of Rob Fahey, Leigh Alexander and Guy Cocker. It’s open to any piece of games writing in calendar 2012.

Oh boy, games journalism, the saddest portrait of journalism ever.

Over the past couple months I’ve stopped reading shitty sensationalist gaming “news” (read: teenage-run blogs) and the only one left is vg247 (nope, not sucking up, will leave this one too if it becomes too much like kotaku). The funny thing is, one of the judges is Leigh Alexander, who writes the most nerdbait articles ever on Shitaku.

This is just sad.
