Fire Emblem: Awakening will release in the west

Nintendo has confirmed that Intelligent Systems' tactical RPG Fire Emblem: Awakening is on the way to the US.

The news comes straight from Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, who made the confirmation with Kotaku. No word on European launch, although it seems likely.

Fire Emblem: Awakening was the best-selling title of the week when it launched in Japan in mid-April, driving up 3DS hardware sales. It shifted 81% of its initial shipment, and has consistently charted in the seven weeks since its launch.

Nintendo of America nabbed a domain for Fire Emblem: Awakening in the week following its Japanese release. The RPG did not make an appearance during any of Nintendo's E3 events.
