Dreamcast title seeks Kickstarter funding

The developers behind Redux: Dark Matters have launched a Kickstarter campaign, with a limited edition Sega Dreamcast version up for grabs.

1,000 copies of the limited edition Dreamcast version are available to backers who pledge $65 or more. The limited edition includes both Redux: Dark Matters and also a polished version of the 2009 Dreamcast dreamcast original, entitled DUX 1.5.

Developers Rene Hellwig and KTX Software have set a Kickstarter goal of $25,000 in order to purchase development kits to release the game on PSN, XBLA, and Steam.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Still waiting for a copy of Sturmwind, but yes….65 seems to be a good deal. Thx for the info.

So it’s a flashy version of R-Type. I can’t understand why they wouldn’t develop this for more platforms, though, than just Dreamcast.

What other formats do you know of? You can’t do it for any other console of that generation considering PS2, Gamecube & Xbox are still active trademarks of respected owners the only other format would be Atari Jaguar and that sure as hell couldn’t run this game.

Dreamcast is used as games are made without the official SDK so no licence is needed from Sega thus any developer who releases a game for DC can do so without being taken to the cleaners by Perry Mason.

The idea behind the Kickstarter is to fund development for XBLA, PSN, Steam & iOS.
