FF Versus Release: VXIII E3 announce hits six year anniversary, still nothing

Tuesday, 8th May 2012 16:16 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Today’s an interesting anniversary, as pointed out by RPG Site’s Erren Van Duine. Six years ago today, May 8, Square Enix took to the stage at its press conference at E3 to introduce the Fabula Nova Crystallis saga. One of those games in that series? Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Versus XIII was announced as a PS3 exclusive and one third of the FNC series alongside Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII for Japanese mobile phones.

Final Fantasy XIII launched back in March 2010 for PS3 and 360, and has even seen a sequel back in January of this year. Final Fantasy Agito XIII, now Final Fantasy Type-0, released in October last year for PSP in Japan. A western release is apparently on the books.

But Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still to make an appearance. Its last trailer was in January 2011. Even then, it showed gameplay despite the long wait. Full development, surprisingly, kicked off last year.

Don’t expect an E3 2012 appearance to celebrate the anniversary, though.

Heh, you’ve reminded me of a GameTrailers video I uploaded with subtitles to the Cut Scene released with the JPN Final Fantasy Advent Children Bluray:

May go back and do a HD version for its 6th Anniversary lol

Either it’s been cancled, or it’ll be on X360, too. SquareEnix is now a crap company.

Never cared for the series but from those who I think are real fans, looks like it is not what it used to be.

Mark my words; It’s going to be released as FF15.
After 13′s questionable performance and the 14.0 disaster they need some REAL killer to bring the Final Fantasy main series back on track.
