Rumour: Next-gen Xbox hitting manufacturing stage

IGN‘s rumouring the next-gen Xbox has already hit the manufacturing stage.

Work has started in Austin, Texas at Flextronics, according to a site source. Flextronics is also the same manufacture of the original Xbox and Xbox 360.

We’re going with IGN in that the hardware being worked on now at the company is more to do with assembling debugs for developers rather than retail SKUs.

“Xbox 360 has found new ways to extend its lifecycle like introducing the world to controller-free experiences with Kinect and re-inventing the console with a new dashboard and new entertainment content partnerships,” said Microsoft in a statement.

“We are always thinking about what is next for our platform and how to continue to defy the lifecycle convention. Beyond that we do not comment on rumours or speculation.”

Flextronics declined to comment.

Microsoft has already confirmed it doesn’t intend to show any new next-gen hardware at its E3 press conference a month today.

It will not be introduced to us at this E3, next year for certain though. This E3 will be all about the Wii U- hopefully they change its name though, like Sony did with the NGP.

Bullshit – its not coming this E3. M$ is happy pushing Kinect for another year while letting now developers work for launch-up games on nextxbox.

@5 Dude it will be no surprise that kinect will still play a part of the next gen console so I really don’t think this is bullshit. I’m still unsure about an e3 reveal though, but then again it wouldn’t surprise me.

Also on another note there’s still plenty of life in the 360 so I don’t think they would announce it at e3 on that basis, with halo 4 and stuff on the way.

You know what I think. I think it doesn’t matter. I can play games on my current console. I can play games that I like, love and adore. Game can already look good and have good physics and all that. It doesn’t need to get better.

I still believe E3 reveal, with just showing tech demos, so they can build up the hype, all the devs will be given a console so they ALL can start developing games for it, there are some that are already being made.

Next E3 2013, will be all new console which does include kinect anyway, day one line up games being showed etc and then Xmas holiday release.

If they waited till next year, its too quick, theyd want a lot more time marketing etc.

If you expect MS to even talk about next-gen at this E3 prepare for dissapointment. This is the last E3 of the 360, it’s all about Halo 4, Kinect and those stupid apps.

As soon as 2013 arrives, the floodgates will open, with rumors, reports etc. Then at E3 or around E3, Xbox Next will be unveiled. It will happen exactly like 2005.

@16

Almost certainly, one can hope though.

It’s easy going for Sony and ms to let this years e3 coast. Kinda crappy though…

Technology companies these days are summed up for me by the business dynamic of with holding features or extras (dlc) until they feel they deem it right to introduce them.

This Is the worst kind of bull shit ever unfortunatly. We can just expect a slooooooow wheel out of these features for the next 10 years, how bollocks is that?!
