Confirmed – Nintendo to fully skip gamescom 2012
Nintendo will fully skip this year’s gamescom in Cologne, the publisher has confirmed to VG247

Confirmation follows a German-based report from Nintendo-Online.de (via Nintendo Universe) this afternoon.
It’ll instead focus on sampling events around Germany with Wii, 3DS and Wii U ahead of the latter’s release later this year.
“Whilst Gamescom is a fantastic show, we have taken the decision not to attend this year’s event,” said Nintendo in a statement.
“We are planning a number of sampling events throughout Germany in which our fans will have the opportunity to play upcoming Nintendo 3DS, Wii and Wii U titles.
“Further details will be announced soon.”
Nintendo Germany has always attended the show in some form with a booth and local media appointments, with Nintendo UK skipping the show.
Gamescom takes place between August 15-18.

Surprised that they decide to skip out this year. Also, Gamescom is an opportunity for European games press who aren’t able to attend E3 to play and write about their games. They really can’t replace that with a bunch of local mini events.
