Takedown successfully funded

A last ditch effort to fund a new tactical shooter by one of Halo: Reach's designers has been successful.

With just one week left to source funding, Christian Allen's shooter looked to join an enormous list of Kickstarter failures, with less than half of its total pledged.

One last push to promote the game, which included a title change and a new pitch, managed to win over just enough supporters; Takedown pulled in $221,833.

The project received a large number of very high donations including a $7,500 pledge, eight $2,500 backers and ten willing to pony up $1,000.

Although Allen's name is fronting the project, the Takedown team includes veterans of Red Storm Entertainment, Monolith, Surreal, Microsoft and Ubisoft. Its credits include Rainbow Six, Rainbow Six Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon, GR2, GRAW, F.E.A.R., Condemned, Halo: Reach, Drakan, The Suffering and World of Tanks.

Takedown will now go into further development, with the funding used to bring the game to Alpha state; this is expected to lure in private investors ahead of full production. If all goes well, it will release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in June 2013.
