First Mortal Kombat Vita footage is gory and thensome

Friday, 3rd February 2012 10:53 GMT By Johnny Cullen

The US PS Blog has posted a video featuring near two minutes of gameplay of Mortal Kombat for Vita, the first showing its gotten since it was announced. Proper button-bashing at its finest, but also wiping the obscuring blood with the touch-screen. That’s your £230 put to work right there. Get the video below the break.

Looks great, but that “Blood on the screen” effect is a horrible idea. I don’t want to mess around with that beautiful OLED screen.
I hope you can turn that effect off.

That’s just a mini-game from the new Challenge Tower. The arcade mode, story mode and other matches are exactly like the original with no touch controls or other gimmicks.
Though I agree that messing with that sexy OLED screen feels wrong, even considering the limited presence of touch based motions like that.

As a MK fanboy, this was and is a must purchase for me but part me feels they haven’t done enough. Yes, I know this is more than what Capcom is doing for UMvC3 but still, it would have been nice to have some different fight system for touch controls. Using random moves to initiate fatalities seems really lame.
