The Last of Us teaser website updated – new wallpaper, video extended

The website for soon-to-be-revealed PlayStation 3 exclusive The Last of Us has been updated. You can now grab a wallpaper which is listed as a screenshot on the site. Thanks to an URL exploit discovered by NeoGaf users, you can also see a second one, which shows a newspaper mentioning a quarantine and “millions feared dead or infected”. The famous ant video has also been extended by several seconds with rather disturbing results.

The next update is due on December 10. The mysterious title will debut with an in-game trailer at the VGAs this weekend.

Why do I get the feeling this will all be a bit underwhelming?

They need to learn from Kojima how to make teasers because this is pretty crap to be honest.

Indeed, the Rising and Peace Walker website was very good, built up a lot of hype.

    And then they were announced…

It’s not that bad. It’s technically unannounced right now. Teaser website with one week until announcement & ‘gameplay footage’ It definitely has people talking.

Pretty much certain this is Santa Monica at work here now.

@5 isn’t Santa Monica working on a new God of War game? Seems strange that they could have time for both.

Although they could have expanded their staff significantly which could explain it.

Syphon Filter 4 which was announced as a rumor. But this here looks more like a infected scenario…

Or Dead Nation 2? Made by Santa?

^ Well Syphon Filter was about a biological weapon. But yeah, this looks like it’ll be a new IP.

@7 there was never any solid evidence that they were working on a new God of War…and even so, its probably earlier in development while this game must be pretty far along if its going to have a trailer made of in game footage…

Definitely, either new IP…syphon filter reboot is a good possibility though after all the rumors were swirling around about a new one before E3…and I know rumors have been shot down but could be Bungie or Respawn’s new game…since that would make the PS3 exclusive part more unbelievable

Who knows b ut this is why teasers and hype like this works…gets the net talking about it, free publicity and marketing
