Marvel seeks video game partner for The Avengers
The new movie adaptation of The Avengers is looking pretty good, shaping up for a cinematic release in the middle of next year. However, the video game tie-in isn’t doing so well, following the recent closure of both Australian THQ studios, who were developing the game.
Now, because you can’t have a movie without a game, Marvel Comics is looking for a development partner to work on a new licensed rendition.

In a statement released to GameSpot, Marvel confirmed that “The rights for a video game based on Marvel’s Avengers IP have reverted back to Marvel.” The company is, apparently, in the “early stages” of checking out potential publishing opportunities.
Unfortunately, we’re assuming the THQ adaptation is dead in the water, and will not be resurrected if or when the license is picked up by a new developer. Here’s the footage again of just what we missed out on.

Unless its a small iOS game, it’s really not the time to start making a new console / PC game. They should either buy the rights to the THQ’s cancelled game or go for a release date way later than the film.

Barely a years worth of production, if you started today. Oh yeah, that’ll turn out to be a fantastic product.
