Ask him if he’ll continue to work with People Can Fly.

Ask him if this is the end of the Gears of War franchise, or just the end of this story arc. He probably can’t answer, but I’m still curious.
Also, ‘sup with Unreal and Shadow Complex!

Ask him what he’s wearing. Also what is the weather like where he is?

Some good reviews there.
Hey Giga we will have to get some co op in.
Maybe Tea will join us.
If you’re reading Tea send me a msg on PSN or live.

@154 – He said he was glad to be able to completely wrap up the trilogy. I asked him if he could see it expanding into different genres, and he said they could make an FPS or a strategy game or whatever else. He wasn’t specific at all.

Cool Pat, that’s a bit more of an elaborate answer than I was expecting :)
Thanks!!

@ reask:

Yeah, I’m up for that. I’m pretty sure tea will be on this, day 1. He loved both the other Gears’ iirc. I was thinking about that earlier.

Apparently, you can do 4 player competitive co-op online, so we’ve got to get another person, and I know Pat’s pumped for Gears 3, too…

@G1GA, I would happily fill a spot if there’s one going and I’m online ;)

I’m all over some co-op for Gears, my favourite part of the franchise tbh.

@ reask, Nice one ;) I think I said earlier in this thread that I was going to wait until the new year for this game… Somehow I ended up pre-ordering it from GAME on my lunchbreak haha. My will power is about as strong as a wet paper towel… unless it’s a sheet of Bounty of course.

@ G1GA, Sweet. ;)

@G1GA, I know, but paying for smaller units feels pretty uneconomical. I could take the spotlight deal of 20% off, but I know they’ve done it cheaper, so I’m holding out.

@Fin, that sounds like a good deal, I’ll see if I can swing by a Game tmw and see if they’ve got anything similar.

This was in the Oxford St (London) store last week, so I doubt it’s still around. Ask at counter for the £30/12month sub – the ones on the shelves were priced £40, but behind the counter they had £30 stickers!

Don’t they usually offer you ridiculous deals on the dashboard if you let your Gold membership expire anyway?

I distinctly remember doing that and then noticing an advert on the dashboard saying that I could get 12 months for £23.99 if I signed back up.

@171, yeah, they usually do, but right now they’re only offering 20% off, which is a bit garbage.

What’s the problem with him enjoying a game like that?

I am yep! It’s a good little supplement to my gym workouts :)

LOL!

Cool, but seriously, does it make you sweat?

I mean, how good is it compared to 20 minutes on a treadmill?

@177 The high level cardio stuff is easily as good at burning calories as any treadmill. As with any cardio, it’s all about how much energy you put into it.

The weight training will make you sweat like a fucking bitch. And probably cause a heart-attack in anyone who isn’t genuinely fit.

I lost over twenty pounds this year, with this game was part of my exercise routine. It can definitely help.

I’m very sceptical, but I’ll take your word for it.

@177

It does actually make you break out in quite a sweat I find.

They basically break up the regimen into Gym Games and Activities.

Activities tend to be more structured and rigid, with you mimicking the posture of the model on screen (the tracking is actually pretty accurate if i’m honest) and doing exercises appropriate to your goals. For example, one of the Men’s Health strength workouts, has you doing dumbell lifts and squats either weights-free to master the form or you can actually pick up and use one of your real-world weights during the exercise. In addition to this there are the usual smattering of cardio boxing exercises (which must be progressively unlocked), Zen (Tai-Chi), dancing and bodypump-esque exercise classes.

Gym games on the other hand, tend to be more of a drop-in, drop-out type of affair with minimal time dedication needed. One of the gym games that always gets the sweat pouring is the ‘Virtual Smash’ game, in which you must kick, punch, knee and elbow various blocks as they appear on screen and at harder levels, you must squat to avoid swinging blocks that if hit you, reduce your score.

It’s all quite well done if i’m being honest; your calories are persistently tracked and you can upload it to some sort of database which tells you how well you are doing and tracks your progress.

Obviously, titles like this are never meant to supplant a gym workout but for someone who maybe can’t afford, or doesn’t have time to go to a gym, it’s a good way to keep active and for those of us who do frequent our local sweat factory, it makes for a fine workout companion all things told :)

I’m gonna back up Ireland and Stolen here. I haven’t played much of Your Shape but I have done some of the Zen work outs after going to the regular gym and that had me in more of a sweat than the boxing…

If you really focus and put in the effort you would be surprised at some of the results. I have a female friend who uses it a lot more regularly and she has praised it to high heaven.
