California blackout troubles SOE servers

A widespread blackout in California appears to have disrupted service at Sony Online Entertainment.

Although many titles are now back online, Massively reports a number of SOE's games and websites were intermittently down and out over the past few hours.

EverQuest II, Pirates of the Burning Sea, and Clone Wars Adventures are apparently back online.

The publisher has cautioned players to wait until power is fully restored before playing or posting, as data may be lost.

Sony Online Entertainment's main servers are located in San Diego. The blackout has affected a huge area including Orange County, Palm Springs and even parts of Mexico, cutting power to over 5 million people. Other Californian-based servers like Office 365 have been similarly stricken, and reports suggest some areas may remain without power until Friday morning.
