Sonic 4: Episode 2 release date coming in 2012

Tuesday, 23rd August 2011 16:43 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Sonic Team’s Takashi Iikuza has said not to expect the second episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 until 2012.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Iikuza said since 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of Sonic, focus on Sonic Generations is priority at the moment.

“This year, 2011, is the anniversary, so we’re focusing on the celebration title,” said Iikuza. “But moving forward to 2012, Sonic will still be going, so I’d hope to provide Episode 2 then.

“We knew about the anniversary year, and Generations was planned way in advance. It was always our plan to release Episode 2 after Generations.”

However, Iikuza said he couldn’t say whether the team would be creating an Episode 3 or not, nor when in 2012 to expect the new episode.

Sonic generations looks to be making this redundant.

^Agreed. Seems like Sonic 4 (episode 1) failed to a large degree due to controls, then all of a sudden Generations pops up and is fucking awesome.
