Cobalt – Mojang’s first third-party title announced

Mojang’s announced its first third-party title Cobalt, developed by Oxeye Game Studios today.

The game’s described as being “an action game of running, jumping, rolling, shooting, throwing, dancing, hacking, rolling, flying, sliding, climbing, looting, deflecting, racing, piñata-ing, passing, scoring… and even more rolling.”

You play Agent Cobalt in the game and have learnt that it’s hard to be a metal face, after stumbling upon the Space Exploration Foundation’s lost colonization ship The Seed at planet X9CSEC5.5B-blue, Trunkopia. It’s now upto you to discover its secrets and defeat whatever lurks inside it to save the day.

The game’s scheduled to release this fall on PC, and it’ll be followed by subsequent Mac and Linux versions. Watch the announcement trailer below.

Just thought of something if Notch wasn’t publishing this game would people still get it?

For me its dependent on the price point, it looks interesting enough.

I don’t really see Notch as a brand, personally. He’s the guy who made Minecraft, and Minecraft is certainly awesome, but it takes more than one really great game to make everything you touch a must-buy in my opinion.

I don’t think this or Scrolls looks very interesting.

A bit harsh, chaps. I thought that looked like a pretty cool chunk of indie fun. And the music’s great!
