Sony warehouse fire likely to impact product distribution

A major Sony warehouse in Enfield, London, has suffered extensive fire damage.

Reuters reports Sony confirmed its 20,000 square metre Enfield warehouse, currently ablaze, is its only storage space for DVDs, CDs and "other content products" in Britain.

"There will likely be some impact on deliveries," Tokyo-based Sony representative Yoko Yasukochi said.

It's not yet clear whether the unidentified content includes PlayStation brand products including games, consoles and accessories due for distribution to retailers.

The warehouse caught fire sometime overnight, and continues to burn. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and Sony is as yet unable to assess the damage, although no injuries have been reported.

Numerous fires have been reported in London suburbs suffering severe, ongoing riot action, the worst the nation has seen in decades.
