It’s not a great sign when the most compelling reason to buy a console is a 12 year old re-release.

1UP probably has it right when they say it *was* a hit, but time has passed.

Those graphics really deserve high scores?
Where are all the reviewers who used to gave bad scores to games that feel old?(in this case the game IS old).
Where are all the reviewers who used to complain for commercial moves and abused franchise?
I don’t say that oot is a bad game, i have never played it, but when it’s nintendo time EVERYTHING is 9+.
Sorry but i will never believe that nintendo(or everyone else) is perfect, a very old game, even a masterpiece, for sure it’s not.

@7 your just now noticing reviewers are contradicting hypocrites and extreme fanboys?

I actually went into my local GAME store the other day to try a 3DS for the first time, and I was actually really impressed. The 3D was alot better than I expected and the games work really well with the dual screens. Really am tempted to save up to get one of these now.

    @7: +1

And the real question is: why score it at all?

we shouldn´t forget that ocarina of time is “the best game ever” reference for a lot of people. there is a lot of hype involved here. some people might fear to be too harsh on it. the original was/is a great game so maybe the 3ds version just really is awesome….i don´t feel like replaying it atm though. the 3ds lineup was so very weak this far. about time this changes. i´ll check out some of the reviews now and will try to get my hands on this game soon. wont buy a 3ds for that though.

It was an incredible game back then and I’m sure this tweaked version is just as good. If you’ve never played it then I’m sure you’ll love it. I’m not so sure I could face it again.

I have like 3x LoZ:OoT on different consoles: n64 and GC.. etc. But.. now it’s redone and better and 3D and the things my GF says, I bought the game myself (mailorder, arrive on tuesday) I actually look forward to play the game with today’s tech. I hope it pays off, but I think so. I had loads of fun with Super Mario 64 DS, and that was a direct copy with only a few enhancements, so this should be fun as well.

OoT should be re-released (with graphical tweaks obv.) every 15 years imo.

I mean, wouldn’t you pity a young generation of gamers growing up without ever experiencing this bloody masterful achievement of a game? :)

    It isn’t a sequel, it’s a remake.

it is idiotic to evaluate a reimaging of an old game in the same way as you do with new ones.

Also, rate the game, not the publisher’s ethics or unfairness of milking old masterpieces.

But you know all the secrets, so what’s the point?

    God, I hate popularity backlash.

Typical that the people moaning haven’t touched the game, and/or don’t like Zelda. Personally, I didn’t think I was going to be impressed. I am. It’s great. Honestly, it feels like I’m playing it for the first time again (which I remind you misers, many people actually are – I know, hard to believe that there are children in this world who will be the same age playing it as you were the first time around!)

And to those kids weened on Modern Warfare or even Crysis level graphics, the updated engine means everything. You think 12 year olds these days want to play an N64 title? Not the majority of them. They’ll play this though. Because it’s new, it has 3D like all their favourite movies, and it’s on spanking fresh hardware.

Why review an old game? Because it’s changed enough to deserve one.

Oh, and ONM UK gave the (I’m sure) totally unbiased mark of 98%

And @17, that’s like saying you know how a movie ends, so why watch it. Plus, secrets can (and will) be forgotten.
