The Darkness II trailer looks through Jackie’s eyes

2K has popped out a new trailer for The Darkness II, shot almost entirely from protagonist Jackie Estacado’s viewpoint.

It’s unusual for a trailer to be so dismissive of cinematic and third-person footage, especially when your hero is a well-established character. Interesting.

The Darkness II is Digital Extreme’s take on the Top Cow franchise, which inhabits the same universe as Witchblade, after Starbreeze’s poorly received but cult favourite original. It’s due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in October.

Check the trailer out below, thanks to IGN.

I like the new graphical style. Cool music, too.

I actually think it looks worse than the original, in both graphical fidelity and art style.

I can’t get on board with the Kane&Lynch-esque neon lighting. Much preferred the dingy, underground, cityscape the first one had.

I like it. I like the style but would have prefered the grittier style of the 1st one.
