Multiplayer modes detailed for Duke Nukem Forever

Scans from the Official Xbox Magazine have detailed the multiplayer modes folks will be able to get in on with Duke Nukem Forever.

According to Duke4net, there will be four different modes, with a maximum of eight players participating in 4 vs 4 with each “Duke” wearing either a red or blue shirt denoting the team they are on.

The modes are: Dukematch, Team Dukematch, Capture the Babe (Capture the Flag) and Hail to the King (King of the Hill). Dukes on other teams will have either red or blue shirts.

In Capture the Babe, the lady in question takes the place of the usual flag. Players must steal the other team’s babe, and if she starts to freak out a bit, you can pull a Sean Connery and give her an ass-smack to calm her down.

There will be 10 maps at launch, one of which is the old west style-map of Morning Wood which we’ve seen in screens. There’s also a remake of the Dukeburger which has little miniature Dukes running around all over the place. When shrunk, the tiny Dukes can still use weapons, but damage is only 10 percent of what it normally is, and steroids will allow players to perform one-hit kill-punches and maintain faster running speeds. Players will not be able to use weapons while the steroid is in effect, and it’s unsure at this point if the steroid user is immune to Shrinker anymore.

A jetpack will show up on some maps, but only in multiplayer not single-player, and you can also plant bombs on enemies and other players. Other confirmed weapons include: a pistol, shotgun, ripper chaingun, pipebomb, rpg, shrinker, railgun, freezer, devestator, and trip-bomb. Players can only carry two primary weapons at a time, with bombs counting as a secondary weapon of course.

Holoduke is the same as in Duke 3D, but allows for the player to be cloaked, enabling stealthy melee attacks.

As players gain experience points by defeating other players, they can spend these points on customizing Duke: basic kills bet more basic points, while specialty “one time achievement kills,” like killing a player using the holoduke or killing yourself on accident with pipe bomb will give you a bonus.

DNF hits stores May 3 in the US and May 6 in Europe.

Thanks, BigDownload.

“4 vs 4 with each “Duke” wearing either a red or blue shirt denoting the team they are on.”

you see!
simple things!
simple things many FPS are getting wrong these days, that is so hard to differentiate what teams you’re on…you can only tell by texts and logos.

Just make the hud different and people would tell!

killzone 3..one of them! bad designing!

at least in Halo 3 I could tell easily if I’m in Conventant team or spartan team.

time for the ps3 bots to start defending their beloved exclusives.

^ Wait, what? You cant tell the difference between the ISA and the Helghast? You’re either blind or you’re just trying ot get on KZ3′s case (and going off other comments you’ve made about KZ3 its obviously the latter).

@4
and it’s obvious that you’ve been defending ps3 on every of it’s topic when people comment on their opinion.

it’s not about blindness…it’s about better game designing…something you wouldn’t understand under your level since all you know how to do is game.

Having everyone play as the same, identical character, only with a palette swap isnt “better” game design, its ‘lazy’ game design.

Your argument against KZ doesnt hold water, like nearly all your arguments against it. So how about you stop trying to bang the ‘KZ SUXS!!’ drum whenever you can and actually talk about the game mentioned in the article?

In other words; Stop trolling.

palette swap? wtf are you talking about? again you are too naive to understand the term of good game designing!
It boils down to everything from character design to HUD!

Unreal Tournament and Halo did all these things right.
Killzone 3 is a step back.

Listen man…I can form list and I know you and others are just ps fanboy pretending not to be one. All the names (same names I see all the time) I see on the comment section in VG24/7 consist of you and others. You all do nothing but start fight and argue all day like you have no lives, spanning the comment section up to Page 5!

I am not the one trolling here son..you are and your little friends in this site. If you don’t like me bashing Killzone 3, STFU and Get lost!

If you really are not a troll you would ignore me. And I know you won’t because of your stupid ego much like everyone else you’ll reply back to defend your ps3 exclusive.

Mind you that I won’t bother replying back to someone lower than me. Which is of course you.

I love how you’re like “DUDE! ITS BETTERRER GAMES DEZIGN!!!!11″ Yet you’re obviously completely incapable of explaining in what way its better.

But i guess trolls gonna troll, the proof:
“I am not the one trolling here son..you are and your little friends in this site. If you don’t like me bashing Killzone 3, STFU and Get lost!”
Cool story, brah. But this isnt about KZ, you’re just bringing it up to troll. You even admit there that you’re just out to bash it.

As for the rest of your comment; Oh dear, we have yet another egomaniac on our hands. This site sure does attract a lot of sweary, argumentative kids with a Napoleon complex.
I’ll be sure to add your name to list of ‘self-proclaimed elitists who act like 12 year olds’.

Don’t like the sound of smacking up the babe, in Capture the babe. Not at all. That’s not cool or Duke like. Period. The Duke don’t hit chicks, they melt in the prescence of his machismo!
