Rumour – New look for PlayStation Home inbound, gets concept art

4Player Co-op is carrying concept art of what appears to be a new look for PlayStation Home.

The images show off a new Home Square in a mall-like environment. People are seen walking together, activities are depicted on a display, and there’s something there known as C.O.G.S., which has a cube display.

The shots supposedly come from a marketing survey. SCEA told Kotaku it didn’t comment on rumour and speculation.

The shots emerge as Sony has recently started pushing Home as something worth revisiting, two years after the MMO-lite first launched.

Although it’s seen 19 million downloads in that time, the service has been criticised for a lack of content.

It certainly doesn’t have a lack of content now, in fact I’d say its fairly worthwhile.

That looks an awful lot like the Mac/Windows/iOS game “Cogs”.

Im in HOME as I type this and its gotten a lot better since it was first released. I still want my damn trophy room but downloading and installing the other home spaces are a breeze now. Just pre queue download everything while playing a game of pool or running around and chatting and you have easy access to everything.

What they need to do is find a way to have users launch into HOME optionally upon turning on your PS3. They have to magically boot all that up within 8-10 seconds. I don’t know how its possible but it would make HOME more appealing to everyone and give us a new welcome screen to see upon booting our PS3s. Also make HOME fully 3D optional from now on also.

totally agree, but wasn’t that what they wanted in the first place- to replace XMB, i.e. Doing everything from home.

@5 I heard about rumors of a 2D HOME from that N Gai Crol guy a while back and was hoping it was true but it seems like that dream is gone. They still haven’t incorporated what our beloved and missed Phil Harrison spoke about when first unveiling HOME back in 2007. I think HOME now, even though not fully recognized as the dream it was unveiled needs its own stand alone icon along the friends icon on the XMB.

HOME has come a long way and as a dedicated PS gamer can safety say it deserves its own separate icon. It needs to be out there if its to be taken seriously and if SONY wants newcomers as well as veterans to try it out and give it another chance. I feel where its at right now brings a lot of bad memories of the early days of HOME where you couldn’t connect properly, it took forever to load places, in some spots very bland or dead with no games, and the true mistake of taking away open voice chat. SONY if you’re claiming this new HOME update is a fresh breath of air then take that step it needs and give HOME its own icon along side of the friends icon.
