@44

If you want to use the High res textures yes you will need the beta driver. I have been using and no issues in fact it seems to make Bulletstorm run a lot smoother.

I can only talk about my experience. The game has been running very smoothly for me not stuttering or crashing and I am playing on very high settings, High res textures and No AA.

I have to say the game demo had occasional freezes when using high settings and DirectX 11, so I guess these driver would help this issue and allow me to use DX11?

And the freezes lasted about 5-7 seconds each

Well the demo doesn’t actually have the full DX11 features thats why its locked on medium but it would help run the actual game with the high res textures if you have a card that has 1gb of Vram. Not sure why Bioware even put that Demo out its a complete mess and nothing like the actual game.
Its supposedly 4-5 months old and 2-3 builds behind.

Like I said, my VGA is a Nvidia GTS250 card with 1Gb GDDR3, so it should run fine at high details with DirectX 11, which you can select from the main ingame menu, while the “configurator” doesn’t loook to work at all.

Problem is: without beta driver the game sometimes stalls for 5-7 seconds.

@NeoSquall

The beta driver should fix that it did for me at least.

Is anyone playing this yet? And is it any good? After reading some of the user comments on Metacritic I’m having serious thoughts of cancelling my preorder for friday… yikes!

JV.com gave it a 12/20. Thats seriously bad.
A point that stands out is that they gave the console versions 1 point higher in graphics over the PC version because apparently the PC version suffers from visual glitches in DX11 mode.

Well i’ve heard from several people who loved DAO that the game is great, and i believe them cause i really enjoyed the demo alot too. I am not gonna buy it yet though, i’ve yet to finish DAO and the Awakening DLC. And actually all the other DLCs too, but those aren’t nessecarily main story related i believe.

I was right again.

I’m playing 10 hours of it and what the pile of donkey S*** it is. I’d better play shitty Mass Effect 2 then finishing this.

Because this game is a MEGATON of fail proportions. I don’t get it. First game was not bad, but they could fix everything…

Oh man, i just completed the game a few minutes ago.

I’m so extremely disappointed. It seems like Bioware is getting lazy. This is exactly what i saw happen to Mass Effect 2. 2 Steps forth, 3 steps back.

There are so many things the developers fucked up …

You never ever leave Kirkwall. This is unforgivable.

Like with ME2, there is also way too much recycling going on in this game. I played a mage, apart from a few exceptions there are 100 of robes or so in this game, but they all look the same. There are like 4 different looks to them. And none of them are good, you have seen them in DA:O already. I even go as far to say that DA:O had more robes. This is again absolutely unforgivable. How hard can it be? To build in new costumes? Modders can do it, you get even paid for it!

I will not waste my money on DLC just to get content that would be included from every other developer.

I was fooled by Bioware, thinking that mages would get a bit more than just the usual woman-dress, since Hawke’s standard clothes are more than just bad ass. But no, you only get woman-clothes. Play it for 25 hours and you get the bad-ass clothes. And that’s it. If you – like me – expected something different, be prepared to be disappointed.

You can’t change the clothes of your comrades. The Dialogsystem is a fucking joke. You really have only 3 options. Kind, Funny (Not really funny), Hard. That’s it. Sometimes you can flirt.

Man, my heart really bleeds because of this. They created such a cool character design and gave him pussy dialog choices. Example of what i mean: Someone tells you to give him more gold. One of the options you get is “Pissoff” I’m not kidding. So naturally i click on “Pissoff” and what does Hawke say? “Forget it, that was not part of the deal” or some shit.

The character of Hawke, no matter what you do, is a puss.

The only thing i like about this game is the combat, but they throw so many enemies at you that you get bored, you don’t want to fight any more, it’s exhausting.

The reason why the developers used Kirkwall is that you can see the impact of the things you do. But that is a fucking lie. There are no changes. You move to a new house, there are few beggars. That was it.

Another thing are the comrades. Again, something that worked really, really well in DA:O, that was completely left out here.

Example: You talk to someone, a mage or something, you agree to help him. One of the new elves in your team is apparently not amused. I get rivalry points. What did i do wrong? Later in the game i find out he doesn’t like mages. Great, could have told me sooner. But he didn’t. They tend to make more comments about your actions, and if they do, you can’t answer back.

It’s like on of your members would say: “You’re a dick, Hawke.” And Hawke would just stand there, like a fucking idiot.

Since i was playing a mage i normally didn’t really had a good way to deal with the mage-hater. In DA:O you once or twice would have the option to get them to leave, but i had no such option. That’s a big problem, considering that i don’t like half of my team, especially the pirate cunt, the warrior bitch, the emo elf. Most of the characters are so fucking selfish that i just wanted to puke. ESPECIALLY the two women i mentioned. They are so fucking disgusting, i turned gay, i made sweet love to a mage. I was surprised how “adult” the whole love thing was. But that matters not when the rest of the game was so shitty.

Everything about this game feels half-done. The art-style. The music (btw. really horrible music), the dialog, the characters, the story especially. There was a chapter where a war against the Qunari was about to start. Bioware gave me the illusion that i could stop it. I did everything in my power to make sure it would never happen. It still did happen. It seems Bioware is trying everything it can to ensure that this franchise continues, they leave as much shit open as possible.

The ending is absolutely anti-climatic. I have never seen something like this. Compared to the ending in DA:O this is a fucking joke. The ending goes like this: That’s the story of the champion: To be continued. THEY DID THE SAME SHIT THEY’VE DONE WITH DA:O! Remember the story of Morrigan, the one they never concluded? Be ready to experience it again.

ENDING SPOILER: In the end, the mage-hating elf turned against me. I killed him. I was betrayed twice by that pirate bitch (once in the void, she would’ve killed me for a fucking ship), could never kill her. Her story, apparently is already in the works a DLC. So in order to complete the story of The Champion of Kirkwall, i have to buy, again. Oh and the mage i fell in love with? He betrayed me also. And killed a lot of innocent people. /SPOILER

@71 Ok. This is much more depressing than everything Erthazus could ever say about the game.
