Ipsos: Gears of War 3 most anticipated title in UK and US

Research firm Ipsos has released results gleaned from its research tool GamePlan Insights, and it found that of those polled, Gears of War 3 was the most anticipated title in both the US and UK.

Out of 1,000 asked between January 30 and February 12, 521 people ranked Gears 3 as their most sought after game.

Second place in the US went to Killzone 3, while it landed in seventh on the UK end. Second place for the UK was Mortal Kombat, while for comparison sake, seventh in the US was Uncharted 3.

Ipsos also found that PS3 titles were gaining momentum, while Wii titles were on the decline.

“Based on recent data pulled from GamePlan UK, Sony appears to be well positioned in 2011; three of the top ten and five of the top 25 most anticipated titles are first-party PlayStation offerings,” reads a statement from the firm’s director, Nick Williams.

“Microsoft stakes claim to the most anticipated title of the New Year, Epic Games’ Gears of War 3, however; only two of the top 25 titles are first-party Xbox 360 titles. Nintendo is publishing the only Wii title in the top 25: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

“While Kinect has the slight edge over Move in the battle of new motion control peripherals, Sony has orchestrated a diverse 2011 lineup of exclusive software that could see it regain control of the UK console wars. As projected by our tracking data, the recently released Gran Turismo 5 and LittleBigPlanet 2 have been well received by UK gamers, and the pending launch of Killzone 3 (ranked 2nd) should add to PlayStation’s momentum in 2011.”

Thanks, IndustryGamers.

Uncharted 3 left in the dust :D

Uncharted 3 will probably sell well like the previous… for 3.8 million units, while Gears Of War 3 will take all the money. Again.

Poor Sony.

This is actually very much represents 2011, GeOW3 is no1 cause the ps3 owners votes are split between like 10 games that are good and coming out this year, the xbox dont have this problem.

For me they are, in not particular order, L.A noire, Gears of war 3, rage, uncharted 3 and legend of zelda skyworld, but if i have to pick one man i dont know, a tie between L.A noire and Zelda Skyworld.

I hope it’s worth the hype, I seriously don’t understand, why the Gears series is selling so well. But also, I could say the same about halo :D *runsaway*

they have Too Human also…pffftt….
Anyways, Gears 3 is at the top of my list along with Killzone 3, Uncharted 3, Marvel vs Capcom 3 and inFamous 2 so i can see why others would want it also.

Killzone 3 was the second most anticipated game in the UK, but it ranked seventh in the US (US prefers guns that shoot where we aim not randomness to simulate recoil- Lame). American gamers instead have Mortal Kombat as their second most wanted. Some of the wilder disparities include Crysis 2, ranked 14 in the UK but 46 in the US (Crysis 2 is getting very little press & Advertising in the US), and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which is America’s fourth most wanted, but comes in at 25 in the UK.

Blargh. Not interested.

Give me Guild Wars 2 instead, that’s my game of the year right there.
