First FIFA 12 details appear in OPM UK

EA Sports has provided some details of FIFA 12 in the latest issue of OPM UK, promising an “enormous shopping list” of improvements it wishes to make in its new game.
EA Canada producer David Rutter promised the studio will make sure the game is much improved from last year’s excellent version.
“I think we did a great job with the Personality Plus feature in FIFA 11, but the team’s [AI] doesn’t support that quite as much as it should,” said Rutter.
“As an example, a team doesn’t spot that if Peter Crouch in the area, they can lay a load of high balls onto his head.”
Rutter also revealed plans to give set pieces a complete overhaul, along with kicking out the loading screens which interrupt them.
“Set-pieces are still a bit lame,” he said. “I get frustrated by not being able to do quick throw-ins, not being able to quickly select my free-kick takers, on the fly stuff. We’re somewhat last-gen in the way the game cuts.”
Rutter also said the team is working to bring a bit more drama from the fans in the next title, including giving players who switch allegiance a hard time.
“Those moments where you take one player to his old club and the boo boys come out, or his old team are more aggressive in the tackle towards him. So you think: ‘Wow! FIFA understands not just the game of football, but the sport and passion behind it’.”
FIFA 12 will no doubt be available towards the end of this year.
Thanks, CVG.

I bought 08, 09 and 10, I did not buy 11. I may buy 12 but that list of changes sounds more like a patch list than a whole new game.

The best FIFA game was 09. FIFA 11 is a let down. They should’ve taken South Africa and just added club teams, it was amazing

The best FIFA game was 99!
Both, PES and FIFA didn´t contained anything to get me excited the last few years.

FIFA 99 was the absolute WORST FIFA I’ve ever played.
And I’ve played a whole lot of FIFA’s.

:p Fifa 99 was the last Fifa game I actually liked! Hated 2000 and everything since. Liked 98 but it was far too slow. RTWC 98 was amazing, fixed everything wrong with 98 and 99 was just perfection of arcade fun. Indoor footie with the ref turned off was a favourite around my street.

After having FIFA International Soccer on the SNES in about 1994, I think I got just about every FIFA, every year up until about ’04, maybe.
After that, I think the next one that I got was World Cup 2006, which was bundled with my 360.
I think the best one IMO was ’09. I decided to stop again after ’09, because playing FIFA online can make me rage like no other game.
I did just get FIFA 11 the other day though, but after playing about 12 games online, I decided that it’s better for my health to just stop playing…
