FIFA 11 reviews start going live, EG goes with 8

The first reviews are starting to come in for FIFA 11 ahead of its release in the UK on Friday. Get everything so far below.

OPM UK’s gone with a ten in its latest issue, as mentioned in the TV ad, while Eurogamer‘s gone live with an eight.

Here’s a snip:

“At its best FIFA 11 is enormous fun and brilliantly engineered, but in its battle to be more varied and realistic it has lost some of its momentum, and off the pitch returns are starting to diminish too. Looking ahead, it will be very interesting to see whether the wholesale changes Konami has made for this year’s Pro Evolution Soccer bed down quickly enough to close what seemed like a huge gap just 12 months ago – because, against all odds, this one now looks like it could go to extra time.”

At last, someone has the guts to forget 9+ rates for this game. At least from the demo, the game seems to have improved as much as it actually got worse than Fifa 10, in other aspects.

I’m told that the final release is a bit better, but I don’t think that can be enough. We’ll see.

I hate the new penalty system!111 Seriously, it’s so ridiculous, I already hated the World Cup Game because of it. I’m glad, that PES is getting strong again, so I don’t have to worry end up playing PES 6 again this year :D

The last one was an 8/10 for me. A good game that had its flaws glossed over by so many reviewers, particularly in the broken single player mode. Demo for ’11 feels good but not much different from the last really.

FIFA 11 is so sluggish compared to 10.

They should’ve improved the defending to make it harder instead of messing with the tempo.
