Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 gets a new look, smarter AI

Saturday, 18th September 2010 23:03 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Tecmo Koei officially pulled the veil off of Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 at TGS this week, and it looked like some changes were implemented with this outing.

There’s some screens of it over on IGN, and before you think we’d give you the wrong link – yes. The game will have a cell-shaded feel to it.

It will also contain mobile suits from: After War Gundam X, Gundam 0083 Stardust Memories, Gundam 00, and Unicorn Gundam, as well as suits from previous Dynasty Warriors Gundam games.

The enemy AI has been given a new mechanic that allows it to call for reinforcements, and there’s also worldwide online co-op mode.

Sounds great to us.

To get an idea what it plays like, D’toid got some hands-on time at TGS with it. Read up on that here.

It’s slated for a winter release in Japan, meaning sometime before the end of March 2011.

Thanks, Siliconera.

I’m surprised they didn’t use cel shading sooner.

The Dynasty Warriors format just seems dumb for a game with mechs…. why would hundreds of mechs just stand around and swarm you when they have rifles? lol..

Kind of, the first games used more hand to hand style combat, an nd the guns were used in more of a special attack type of thing. You could scoop in from afar, but why shoot one at a time when you could plow thro half a dozen upclose?

I didn’t mind the first two games, my kids loved ‘em. But the DW formula is getting stale for me. If they did more with building the mechs, or gave it a RPG feels with levels stats and a skill tree … maybe that would freshen things up for me.
