Molyneux and Milo at Ted footage

Wednesday, 18th August 2010 18:02 GMT By Joe Anderson

Peter Molyneux held a TED talk on Project Milo last month, revealing new information and discussing how it all works.

The 10 minute video presentation of the talk is now available, and you can catch it after the break.

At first, the video has the player interactive with Milo, squashing snails and skimming stones.

Later in the video, you hear him arguing with his parents, before  the player interacts with him to say “There there, don’t worry about your stressed out parents.”

Check out the video below.

Thanks, Joystiq.

    Looks very interesting.

If it turns into an actual product, I hope it isn’t just a glorified mini-game collection/tech demo.

    Pretty impressive.
Obviously at the teething stage but the scope could be amazing if developed you would imagine.
    GTA5 with voice commands maybe?

How on earth would GTA5 benefit from voice commands?

    Very impressive indeed.

Not sure I can see it becoming a game, but damn that is a great demonstration of how interfaces are going to evolve.

Well I was thinking along the lines of you telling milo or whatever his name is to do certain things instead of the phone.
Just a wild thought really. :)
    Maybe that’s why I’m not a game developer. ;)

I strongly recommend this ignore script:

In fact it should be on a prominent link on the VG247 homepage.

At this point it’s just a well animated character, a slightly better version of the animal from Black & White. With some mini games trown into the mix.

Notice that Milo does not in any way respond to anything that was said to him. There was a pause to speak and then Milo said a general stock line ignoring everything that was said to him. Like a music game: tone matters but lyrics don’t.

And it’s still weird that there is no real context to the player befriending Milo. As an adult you are supposed to be his imaginary friend? That’s still really strange.
