Test Drive Unlimited 2 gets pushed into 2011

TDU2

Atari’s has pushed Test Drive Unlimited 2 into next year, thanks to the game’s multiplayer needing more polish.

The Eden racer was due to release at the end of next month in the US and Europe, with a multiplayer beta due before then.

As a result of the game’s delay, the beta has also been delayed, with a new release expected to be confirmed by Atari in the coming weeks.

The publisher’s also confirmed it will reward players who have signed up for the beta with an exclusive in-game item.

TDU2 will see gamers driving over the islands of Ibiza in Spain and Oahu in Hawaii, as confirmed by Eden at Namco’s pre-E3 event in Barcelona in May.

Thanks, GameSpot.

Proper gutted. This was the only thing left in 2010 that I was looking forward to.

Love the idea of the TD:U games – thought the last one lacked a little in the driving model though. Hopefully that is improved and Europe doesn’t get to subsidise a budget release in the US again.

It must be en vogue to delay driving games these days *glances at Polypony*

Well there’s still GT5 & NFS to look foward to. Maybe it’s for the best.

This makes good sales sense there is too many games coming out september and especially october it would really get buried behind too many games in stores.
