BioWare finally released the behind closed doors E3 demo for Star Wars: The Old Republic today, and you can get it below the break.

In the video, it shows a group of four players using their abilities to complement one another in the battle; a Jedi Consular, Jedi Knight, Smuggler, and Trooper.

It should give you a basic idea of how combat will work in the game, once it finally gets a release next year.

Enjoy.

Saw this at E3, and honestly? The game looks incredibly dull and generic. I found DC Universe Online to be a lot more impressive.

Not bad, the problem is that it looks like another World Of Warcraft instance.

Cant say they’re taking any risks. I mean what is there to say? Its WoW’s combat system, exactly the same.

True, but there are games like TERA and Guild Wars 2 with innovative battle systems.

Bioware just trying to push Mass Effect dialog system to the MMORPG that is not going to work really well. Some players can be tired after few instances.

that looks really ordinary and generally rubbish,im not excited at all about this game, the only reason im looking at all is because its bioware.

They still have a year to polish it right now this would be the bare bones of combat and most if not all MMOs use the same combat only one MMO attempted something new and that was AOC with Melee attacks and that was a huge failure.

Bioware’s main thing to sell with their MMO is
    1) Story which they have with all their writers
    2) Entire game being fully voiced
    3) Having the ability pick your choices like many of their games.

Look at most Bioware games can you honestly say combat was their main focus? Thought So

“They still have a year to polish it right now ”

to polish MMO is not enough in one year and never was. One year for MMORPG games is to focus on balance, classes and fix bugs as much as they can until first closed beta test. The core mechanics we saw, graphics and everything else we saw. Everything is flawed.

Looks like a generic WOW MMO Rip Off with lightsabers. Imho.

“only one MMO attempted something new and that was AOC ”

It’s not the ONLY new MMO. You never saw TERA?

“Bioware’s main thing to sell with their MMO is
    1) Story which they have with all their writers
    2) Entire game being fully voiced
    3) Having the ability pick your choices like many of their games.”

    1) No one cares. World Of Warcraft have an amazing story behind Warcraft universe and it’s not the selling point for MMORPG. Never Was and never will be. Guild Wars is game with deep story and it’s important part of the game and it’s still not the selling point for this game and even for the second game.
    2) Everquest II is full voiced MMO and was not a selling point for it
    3) Wow… choices at the level of the Runescape.

You are fan boy difference between you and BDH is you actually attempt to use punctuation and grammar.

BTW there was interview and the Dev said a lot of the combat has yet to be implemented like the attacks. And you don’t know the process of developing a MMO. They haven’t even started beta yet. They only let a handful of people to play it on a single weekend. No the starting process of MMO is to get everything working and Beta is test bugs and balance. Look at Blizzard with Wrath beta they made a new class and they weren’t even tested before Beta the class was fully broken until the month before release.

    “You are fan boy”

Fanboy of what, please? Explain yourself.

“BTW there was interview and the Dev said ”

No one cares what developers said. Combat system was silly with few interesting tricks in classes ability that look silly. All developers saying how they have different battle systems in MMORPG games.

“And you don’t know the process of developing a MMO.”

I know a lot about MMORPG and i read forums where developers explain how they develop certain MMORPG game and what is left till release date. One year till release you can’t do something new for MMORPG, if you think that something will change, well kudos to you sir, you don’t know shit.

One year till release is saying that content is ready and they are fixing it for the FIRST CLOSED BETA TEST.
The only thing they can do is add some stuff to instances if it is important.

“Look at Blizzard with Wrath beta they made a new class and they weren’t even tested before Beta the class was fully broken until the month before release.”

You are stupid or what? Blizzard always fix classes no matter what and it was not broken. I played it at the release date. The only broken part about it was that Paladin and Knight together were badass, than they started to nerf Knight a little bit. It’s always with Blizzard. After beta or not.

    you know about MMO nothing.

No the Death Knight was completely broken being able to do 10k damage in their starter gear and solo all Wrath instances until the release. They allowed that on Alpha to Open Beta right until release and you say they focus on balancing first? Even after release Death Knights were still broken. The last thing on Devs mind is balancing its getting the class and their abilities to work, balancing gets fixed later, all current MMOs have shown this.

Hello Earth! I played him at the release date and was one of the first players who reached 80 level with DK, i know exactly what was the problem.
10K he could make only with Gear and the only problem was a Battle Arena.
Blizzard always fix classes and they will never achieve balance.
He still is making 10K if you are good with him.

You two ladys need to stop crying about eachother, this game isnt even out yet, WOW is out, thats the difference so you cant compare them yet.

Ohhh and just so you know the selling point is that its Star Wars. Now i didnt need no booklet, forums or some stat charts to see that *slaps both*

WOW, this is NOT a good looking game. I would expect this 5 years ago. Being a Jedi looks kinda lame, it’s Warcraft with Neon swords.

I don’t know why it’ so difficult to make an MMO that is fun and looks good. My money is waiting to be taken by some game; this isn’t it.
