Miyamoto wants Pikmin out soon so he can focus on a new character

Mario. Link. Captain Olimar. That obnoxious talking scale from Wii Fit. Miyamoto’s got quite a legacy, but he’s far from finished.
Nintendo recently held a shareholder’s meeting at its corporate headquarters in Kyoto, and Shigeru Miyamoto proved that Nintendo actually didn’t deplete its entire supply of megatons during E3.
“It’s about time for a new game character. Perhaps this can be delivered next year,” he said (via Andriasang).
As a result, Miyamoto hopes to get Pikmin out the door as soon as possible.
So, the burning question: now that he’s done digging around and apparently discovering little people in his garden, what’s Miyamoto’s new hobby? Swimming, mainly, in addition to helping out at a youth guidance organization.
Sounds as though we’ll know soon enough.

Love this kind of news. Miyamoto’s one the greatest creator/designer Video Games Industry ever had, even if he had a quite unproductive period recently. So when he says that he wants to bring the gaming world a new character, I just feel unmistakably OK and impatient!
Can’t wait now.
And can’t wait for Pikmin 3 too!

Bugger new IPs – I just want a Pikmin that’s at least as good as the last two. And I want it yesterday!

Now that they’ve revived Kid Icarus and Star Fox, I’d say a new character would be most welcome indeed.
