MGS: Peace Walker reviews start sneaking in, EG goes with 8

Kept you waiting, huh? Reviews for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker have started to trickle in? How has it fared? Hit the link for everything so far.
Eurogamer‘s gone up with an eight for the Snake Eater sequel. Here’s a blurb from the piece:
“It’s sad, and not entirely Kojima Productions’ fault, that at times Peace Walker is just too much game for the system it’s on. But it is so very much game – I haven’t even mentioned the competitive multiplayer (it’s not that exciting to be fair, only supporting six players) or the fact that, of course, it’s riddled with hilarious and strange easter eggs, not least the Monster Hunter cameo stages.”
As for everyone else, full list is below.
If you have any more links to add, do so below.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker releases today in the US, and launches in the UK next Friday for PSP.

they were probably too busy counting the frame rates and the pixels to enjoy the game.

The freakish pedo-bait that is Paz was enough to put me off wanting to buy this game, no matter how good the core product might be. It was entirely unnecessary.

I have no doubt there are quite a few people who are going to argue that I am “taking this too seriously” (trust me, I’ve had this conversation before), but this stuff is entirely unnecessary, and didn’t need to be in the game in the first place.
Previous MGS games didn’t need to rely on an lolita-fied Japanese sex-doll to sell their games, and its not something I care to support.
I know my non-purchase of the game isn’t going to have any impact on its sales, but it’s simply an issue of principle for me.

Well, that Loli crap is for Japan obviously. I agree with you that MGS series started to put whatever shit they have. Monster Hunter and loli stuff, or Yaoi.

I’ve not seen that before, Boris. And I entirely agree with you, that’s frankly bizarre.

Y’know, its reactions like that that got us loads of content cut from Yakuza 3…

I’d counter that it was lazy-arsed Sega that got us loads of content cut from Yakuza 3. Furthermore, that content was at least sort of relevant in Yakuza 3.
Edit: Actually, does she really appear like that in-game? Or are those just promo shots designed to excite the hairy-palmed? If none of that’s in-game then obviously no problem.

I think its actually a mode in the game, sort of like the photo mode in VR Missions.

@Blerk That is entirely in-game. It is part of a “bonus mode” where Snake can go on a “date” with Paz. Here’s the proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb236c5Mc8g (NSFW)
@Gekidami Oh yes, I remember all those over-sexualised, underage girls walking around in children’s underoos in Yakuza 3! HOW DARE SEGA!
Really, there’s no comparison. The content removed in Yakuza was removed due to the fact that 90% of western players wouldn’t have a clue about the context of the content. That’s completely different to this.
I can tell you right now that I would gladly buy this game if this specific content was removed, and Paz was redesigned so as not to deliberately look like jail-bait.
Look at MGS2, and Emma Emmerich specifically. The series never needed to rely on this kind of shit to sell its game. Why now? It’s embarrassing to see the game’s great character design being replaced by… this kind of thing.

The game’s first or second cut-scene – the comic book ones – show off their interactivity by allowing you to zoom in and pan on the images.
When you zoom in on the full-frontal pic of Paz, her red coat fades out to reveal a uniform below it. Continue to zoom in and the uniform fades out until it’s just her in her undies.
