SMG2 gets “masterful” ten from IGN

IGN’s just gone live with a ten for Super Mario Galaxy 2, making it the 29th title in total to have gotten the high score from the site.
Here’s a snip from the piece:
“I think the one thing you should take away from this review: Super Mario Galaxy 2 wholly exceeded my expectations. Leading up to the game’s release I hadn’t expected much more than simply “more of the same.” I loved the original Super Mario Galaxy, but the company would have to do something pretty special to really “wow” me. Consider me “wowed.””
Obviously, one to buy now and everything, innit. Go pre-order. We’ll wait. Video review’s below.
Just to remind you, the general reviews embargo for everyone else is Monday at 6am BST.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 releases this Sunday in the US, with a UK release on June 11 for Wii.

I still think it’s too high for this platforming game, but anyway, i will try it.
I think it will be the highest rating game on metacritic.
98% or 99%

I have to say that looks pretty spectacular. Almost makes me regret selling my Wii. Almost.

Pretty much expecting 10s all round for this one, even from miserable old EG.
One of the sites should hire me to review it. I’d give it a score that’d generate some page hits for them.

Super Mario Galaxy is the reason I bought a wii.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the reason I don’t need to take crack.
Looking forward to this

@9: Plenty o’reasons to own a Wii. Unless for those who can’t muster any interest for other strong titles in its catalogue, but it’s arguable how much said catalogue is to blame for that.

A system doesn’t have to be played all of the time to be enjoyed. There are lots of reasons to play and enjoy a Wii once in awhile. Obviously tastes vary, but I am just saying you don’t need to play the system all of the time everyday or exclusivly for it to be worthy of owning.

As a m8 of mine so succinctly put it: ‘If you can only produce a title once every 2 years that fully justifies owning the system then thanks but no thanks’.
Harsh but fair…? I’m leaning that way…

I don’t know I figure once I already own it, the trade in value is so low it isn’t worth selling it. If for nothing else to have the opertunity to play the great games that do come around once in awhile. Like the Mario games. The New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Was fantastic. Once in awhile a good one comes along.
I like still having mine.
