Sony: Killzone 2 not going 3D

Monday, 5th April 2010 06:49 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Sony’s said that the video from Qore on Friday which apparently confirmed 3D support for a whole slew of first-party titles, including Killzone 2, was just for “demonstration purposes” only.

Other titles mentioned in the clip from the US PSN  magazine included Gran Turismo 5, LittleBigPlanet and more.

But the firm said in a statement: “That last feature included interviews, footage from CES 2010, and a brief montage of SCEA titles intended as examples of what 3D gaming might encompass. It is hard to do justice to just how amazing 3D gaming looks in a 2D presentation—even in an HD product such as Qore.

Unfortunately, our feature did not make it clear that the 2D game footage was included for demonstration purposes only. We apologize for the erroneous inference that 3D versions of LBP, Wipeout HD, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 or Super Stardust HD are in production.”

So keep dreaming about living that Helghast 3D dream, kiddlewinks.

Thanks, IGN.

Considering the tech requires you to render each frame twice, effectivly doubleing the framerate, it’s no surprise that there isn’t going to be 3D support for titles that are already pushing the PS3 to the limmit at 30FPS.

    I already knew that. I mean why put 3D in KZ2 when you’re about to announce KZ3 @ E3
