ModNation Racers gets release date, Kratos, Ratchet, Nathan Drake as pre-order bonuses
Like middle-aged men and golf, big-name videogame characters – regardless of their backgrounds or god-killing aptitudes – just can’t seem to stay away from cutesy kart-racing games. First there was Mario, then Sonic (and Banjo), and now Kratos, Ratchet and Clank, and Nathan Drake have undergone the necessary cranium-enlargement surgery to ride in tiny cars.
The Sony-centric trio (and Clank) are coming to ModNation Racers as part of a pre-order program. Pre-ordering from GameStop gets you the closest thing we’ll ever get to “Honey, I Shrunk The God of War,” Amazon nets you Ratchet and Clank, and Best Buy’s handing out Nathan Drake.
The game’s out on May 25, according to the PlayStation Blog.

Haha! That Kratos looks just like one of those inflatable kid bop/punch toys. Ratchet looks absolutely high in the sky (Clank’s denying any knowledge!), but Kratos as seen there, that’s a toy manufacturer’s dream come true. Nate didn’t come out of the process as distinctive – he looks like a journo without a pass, trying to bluff his way into E3, through the medium of cosplay.

Still a long time to wait. Hopefully this game will deliver and become Sony’s version of Mario Kart.
