Aliens vs Predator reviews get out

The reviews for Aliens vs Predator have been trickling out for the past couple of days, but the European embargo has now ended, thanks to the game’s release today.
Get everything rounded up after the jump.
So far, it’s looking like a mixed bag. Game Informer went with a 5.75 a couple of weeks ago, while Eurogamer’s just gone live with a 6.
But a couple of other scores are looking good for it as well. Get them below.
- Ripten – 8
- GT – 7.7
- The Guardian – 4/5
- IGN UK – 8.5
- Daily Mail – 2/5
- IGN – 7.0
- Gamespot – 5.5
- TeamXbox – 6
- GamesRadar – 8
- GiantBomb – 2/5
- Videogamer – 7
- The Independent – 3/5
- 1UP – D
- CVG – 8
If you have any more links to add, do so in the comments below.
If you need to see what it looks like before you go out and get it, the game’s launch trailer was released yesterday. Get it here.
AvP is out now in the US and Europe for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

The reviews for this one are all over the shop! Bizarre that there’s such a huge difference in scores between different publications. Do we know which versions were being reviewed? Is it, for instance, that the PC version is reviewing better than the console versions?

Was it Game Informer US who gave it 25%?

All. Over. The. Place.
Funny to see an FPS/MP to be that divisive, it normally takes a game that’s odder or less conventional to do that.
@2 – I agree, I’m going to try and sort through what’s the console view vs the PC view on this one to see if there’s a difference. The first two AvP titles were so based around fast reactions with a lot of vertical based combat that I can’t help thinking this should play better on PC with K&M vs console with gamepad, where FPS tends to be slower and there is a lot less up/down combat.

It was 1up who gave avp a 25%
but yeah wow, this is all over the place O_O I figure maybe some of it is to do with how games age. Think like painkiller if you are the sort of person who can still play doom today you’ll like painkiller but if you can’t and feel its too simple now you wouldn’t like painkiller.
I think maybe some sort of similar situation occurs here when comparing this game to pc games of the 90s cos that is what it definitely harks bvack to

Personally, I’m loving it. But Aliens is my favourite film ever, so it’s like a chance to actually be in an Aliens film.
I think the closest example is the Ghostbusters game. Gameplay wise it wasn’t massively original but the story and character interaction made it all worth it. I think the same is true of AvP, if you’re a fan of the films you’ll be a fan of the game.
