GTA: Chinatown Wars released for iPhone

Rockstar’s released Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
For £5.99, you get the same top-down GTA that was released on the DS and PSP last year.
Awesomeness on a stick.
Go buy it from here on iTunes.

I’m somehow thinking that this port will “kick the shit” out of the DS and PSP versions sales-wise. And probably put paid to any future handheld GTAs on anything other than iPhone.

It has on price, anyways.
It’s £30 on the PSN, while it is only £6 on the App store.
I know what version I am buying once iTunes accepts my debit card.

It does give you a clear idea on the price of games, once retailers are cut out of the equation.
PSP Go was in many respects, an idea doomed to failure. Sony are hamstrung with the price of games on the PSN, whilst they still have to court retailers.
I reckon PSP2 will cut them out completely.

I downloaded it this morning. Not bad, a bit choppy in places on my 3G but it’s probably OK on the 3GS. Rockstar should pat themselves on the back for not rushing it out before Christmas full of bugs like Namco and EA did.
Plus, it’s got playlist support for your own MP3s.
