Only 25-30% ever use Home more than once
Sony’s Peter Edwards said at Develop today that as little as 25-30 percent of the 7 million people that have downloaded Home ever return after the first visit.
Edwards, European director for the service, said that the total amount of users includes 3 million Europeans.
There’s more on GI.

I’m surprised it’s that many.

I wish I could unuse it.
Why can’t I delete the icon?

I wonder what the figures are for more than twice…

Whatever happened to streaming music and/or videos while in your apartment etc.
I still think it has potential as an online shopping application of some description.
At the moment, there’s still bugger all to draw people back to it.

I’m with Blerk and surprised it’s that high too. Though I did go back once to try the Red Bull flight thing – actually quite good but having it embedded in a Home interface means I’ve not tried it again since despite enjoying it.

It’s an interesting enough endeavour. I’ve retuned a few times to play Red Bull, check out the various game specific spaces, play some chess with strangers etc. but it desperately needs something exciting to happen. If they turned it into a 256 man rumble, then that would be fun
I maintain the PS3 audience for Home just isn’t there yet. It’s a social app designed to appeal to the facebook crowd who collect friends like Pokemons. That crowd is the very definition of casual though, and they’re only going to start picking up PS3′s once they go for around the 199 mark.
The Xi thing was a great step in the right direction though, they need more stuff like that, but a bit more accessible.

That image says it all; a man in a stupid hat standing blank-faced and motionless in his empty, sterile, pointless ‘apartment’ that cost him £7 in REAL money.

I went in twice. Once after I downloaded it. Then again to see a bit more. I found it pretty boring if truth be told. Not enough to do and too many rude people. I wasn’t quincy’d either

Home ain’t for me, but I’d be willing to be that the minority who take to it more than cover the costs in terms of transactions.
Like Robo_1 I feel Home is some ways is too early in terms of install base. I think Sony should have focused more on getting core IP on the system first, pumping the install base as much as possible then launched home.
I doubt it’s loss making though, and I suppose as they grow the install base the number of Home fanatics will slowly rise, buying clothes, etc. as they go.

Interesting idea – poorly executed.
Typical Sony, then.

Things like the Buzz space might make it more popular.
Tried EA golf and racing last night. Absolutely fucking diabolically awful.
