I am aware he threw is Sister and mother out of his london hotel when they came crawling back after 12 years asking for money from him, but nothing about beating his wife!?

Yeah, I’ve never heard anything about him being a wife beater.

scratchy’s got his wires crossed with the incident where Bale reportedly attacked his mum and sister, although they later dropped all charges against him.

But why let the facts get in the way of casually calling someone a wife beater?

He ‘verbally’ assaulted his mum/sister, what ever that means.

He’s a bit of a dick though, but I do like his movies these days, he just needs to cheer up a little.

A lot of the reports about the mum thing seem to say he was provoked by something she said to/about his wife. Which makes the ‘wife beater’ accusation here a bit ironic.

This has made me re-evaluate Christian Bale.

Not in response to the article, but rahter the 1st post, I thought he was excellent in Salvation and that movie surpassed my expectations by a land slide.

Bale has been doing constructive things with his time? I thought he’d been spending all his time promoting that utterly mediocre Terminator sequel.

It’s probably constructive to his wallet.

He was awesome in American Psycho, Equilibrium, and the batman movies.
He’s a good actor, and an great action hero type.
The Matrix series would have been better with him as the main char.

I think he’s great. One of my favourite actors.

Oh, and Pacino, DeNiro and Olivier would have been shit in Terminator 4.

Bale is fucking awesome. He’s far better than this summer-blockbuster tripe he’s been doing. I hear the “Public Enemies” (new Michael Mann film with Johnny Depp headlining) is fantastic and has Bale in it too.

Let some cardboard cutout actor do the CG-fests, Bale. More American Psyhco, The Machinist and stuff of substance please.

Mike, if you like Olivier have you seen him opposite Michael Caine in Sleuth? One of my favourite films ever. Both of them zinging lines off each other. It’s a great film/play without them but it’s just wonderful to watch them do their thing with such clever material.

Haven’t seen that, no.

Am looking forward to Public Enemies too. Although Michael Mann films seem always to slightly disappoint.

I like Bale in 3:10 to Yuma, too.
