Valve details Left 4 Dead update coming next week
Valve has announced that Left 4 Dead is getting an update next week.
One thing to expect is the release of the Authoring tools/SDK, which has had a few additions and updates added since the beta.
Also, the matchmaking system will now support custom add-on campaigns, and content authors will be able to package up their new maps, along with posters, models, and textures, into a single .VPK file.

I doubt we’ll see new weapons tbh, at this point I’m still questioning whether we’ll see any new scenarios or anything for L4D despite the promises.
I have a feeling the SDK is just there to placate the anti-L4D2 crowd until L4D2.

It’s been in the works before the outrage so I don’t see a problem. Update sounds nice for modders and all that but it’s a damn shame Valve still doesn’t want a server browser to be a standard option in the main menu. Seems like they got the console taint permanently on them now…

Its not useless. It will allow all of the player content to be available in actual online games without having to modify the default content. And that means more content in general. Go to L4Dmaps.com, and you’ll see there’s tons of campaigns, skins, survival maps, hell even some weapons and mods(look at the barricade mod). You people really have to stop this bitching campaign, its like a bunch of baby’s crying for their moms teet. This is great news. Because of this, tons of great content will be added to l4d. People do need to make a living. Ungreatful cunts.

custom content is in more than 90% of teh cases way below average. i’m sorry but i’m used to valve high quality maps, not custom. that’s why i don’t care about it.
