Leaked Trico footage is real, talk casts doubt on E3 reveal

Wednesday, 20 May 2009 08:29 GMT By Patrick Garratt

trico2

VG247 has it on cast iron authority that the Trico footage leaked overnight is real.

Strict anonymity surrounds the information.

The footage, as has now been widely speculated, is over a year old.

We’ve also been told this morning that the game may not sufficiently advanced enough for an E3 reveal.

Great fear surrounds this, Ringo. We’re waiting on comment from Sony.

Yeah, heard the strict anaonymity thing too. Heard the rumorus of this trailer for quite a while/repeated to be honest.

Just you think you know the creative behind the process, and you never do!

As for E3 presence. I am very confident it will be there. But then I don’t believe I shoudl doubt you a second time Pat.

Well, I haven’t heard anything about when.

The guy who was sharing stuff with us, said he knew a release window. But I didn’t want to bother him for it, it was nice enoguh that he teased us with any info.

Despite the high security around the game, it doesn’t half seem to get around. Or perhaps the high security just makes people more inclined to beat it and spread it.

Hmm. Anyone OTHER than VG247 pimping this as real?

Coming so soon after yesterday’s stunt I think I’d want a more solid confirmation than Pat’s word and an anonymous source.

I’d like it to be real because I’m interested in Team Ico’s output. But I’d rather invest my interest in something that isn’t fake.

‘unnecessary’ ? Dude, Team Ico take a long time to make the best games. You can’t rush it. Everyone’s saying this won’t be out until end of next year. What’s the point in showing something half done at E3 this year and getting people’s hopes up ?

    #44 6 years ago
  45. Shatner

Didn’t you hear? Sony have singled out people and are deliberately antagonising them by either not giving game details or giving too many game details, releasing games too soon, or releasing them too late. They can do any of this but they ONLY do it to piss people off. That’s the only possible reason.

Surely you knew this, 10k? I’m pretty certain I read it somewhere on VG247. So its legitimacy can never be brought into question.

  54. No_PUDding

Becuase it’s an internationally relevant game. By the same logic, why would they show GT5 at E3, rather than TGS?

It didn’t sell any better in Japan than it did here. It’s just Japan developed.

    #54 6 years ago
  55. Shatner

I’m still very dubious. Nobody answered my question properly (or even tried to). And those that felt sleighted seemed to think that mocking the mentality to ask questions was as good a response as answering them.

Anyone can release a fake trailer this close to E3 and expect gameblogs like this place to scoop it up and make a couple of stories from it. “Legitimising” this by asserting the less you see of it at E3 the more straight this story is doesn’t really convince me of anything.

As I say, I’m intrested in Team Ico’s next game. I’d just prefer news of it to come from more reliable sources. When someone’s tried to fool you once why should you believe them without questioning the source of the information? And if people refuse to answer straight, simple questions by acting like children why should that add any weight to their claims. If you want to be regarded as credible, try behaving in a credible manner.

Good for you. I like credible news sources.

So far all I can find from this is a ‘me too’ PlayStation blog, a games forum (already arguing with assumed expertise about what the game is and how it will end), and a whole lot of hype-blogs linking to them with some qoting ‘anonymous’ sources. Oooh! How mysteriously connected some people are!!

Would be nice to believe this but tracing the route to the origin, it’s about as credible as crop-circles being proof of UFOs.

Real what Mike? Old footage? Of what Mike? Old news?

And you’ve argued you’ve known certain facts about certain things before Mike, haven’t you. And we both know you were telling porkies to look big and important on the internet with those..

So, like I say, credible sources are still abundantly lacking.

Tell you what Mike, why don’t you do some copy and pasting into Twitter and giggle about it amongst your internet chums? You can look important that way!

Psycho, your ability to selectively NOT see things doesn’t help you. Certainly doesn’t do much for your armchair analyst ‘expertise’ either. Just like your inability to identify the colour blue.

What am I disregarding? A 2 year gap and the fact that leaks of major games news rarely appear from me-too single format games blogs run by amateurs? And that when asked for some substantiation from the people who (apparently) know what’s what, they refused to do so and just mocked and implied that THEY knew and that’s good enough?! Not in my book sunshine.

You’re choosing to disregard the quite appropriate Nintendo ON fake (and, I dare say, any other fake that ever occured) Looked real. ‘Leaked’ at just the right time. To an audience who wanted to believe more than ask questions. Turned out nobody should have wasted their time on it at after all! Oh noes!

You want to believe so anything that challenges your belief seems unreasonable. A lot of people believe in a God too. With no credible evidence of the existance of one. They believe real hard too! People who don’t believe what they believe aren’t right in the head. People die. Wars occur.

So, just because I don’t believe what you believe, given the ‘evidence’ and just as much ‘evidence’ to support healthy scepticism, I’m no particularly bothered by your diagnosis.

I’m disregarding nothing. Particularly the evidence that supports scepticism. You’re the one disregarding what you don’t want to know in favour of not letting it dilute the idea of what you do.

Show me CREDIBLE, RECENT sources to legitimise this and we’ll see.

Like you, I want to believe. But, like Roger Daltry, I won’t get fooled again. :D

    #73 6 years ago
  74. No_PUDding

You want to believe on your own. I am pretty fucking disappointed having heard the rumours coming from miles off.

I am hoping that the non-target, realtime demo is much more interesting. Ofcourse I am happy becuase it will be an amazing game nonetheless.

Anyway, there is nothing about these shots that is not credible, other than where they have been leaked from. Everything else, only serves to support it.

    #74 6 years ago
  75. No_PUDding

There’s nothing credible to deny it. Unlike God, who we’ve never seen.

Anyway, Pat, don’t think you;re off the hook. I will eb spamming comment sections, until you share one incidental detail, that is not a problem to share.

    #75 6 years ago
  76. Shatner

“there is nothing about these shots that is not credible, other than where they have been leaked from.”

So according to you, there’s not doubt on the credibility except their source.

Have you listened to yourself? You’re trying to argue with me whilst saying exactly what I’ve said.

I’ve never said I don’t want to believe. I just don’t have any credible source of information that suggests I should. Dubious sources refusing to answer simple questions and just insisting they be believe because of their implied connnections just doesn’t cut it. Smells like a lot of bluff that I’ve seen before.

    #76 6 years ago
  77. No_PUDding

Shatner, have you listened to yourself? It’s hilarious once you wind around all the sarcasm and double negatives.

Let me present it to you simply:

You first repeat to me that I have one reason for doubting it: the source.

And then you try to ridicule me for exactly that, as if I should believe it. Shatner, that is the lone doubt I have. The footage’s credibility is supported by far more obvious things that can be established through common sense.

You are as predictable as the rest of us, and the reason you’re not worth speaking to, is becuase you aren’t clever enough to express your point in under 1500 words most of the time. I bet half of those are double negatives.

Why doesn’t the kid have horns? That’s what I want to know.

This series has been awash with horny kids and here’s a kid with a giant cat-rat and no horns.

    What gives?

    #88 6 years ago
  89. No_PUDding

Mike ofcourse he isn’t. Not to Shatner, after the Fallout 3 news xD

    #89 6 years ago
  90. Shatner

    Mike,

I clicked a link where you publicised your page in the Twitter topic on the forum. I don’t care for Twitter. But I thought I’d see what yours looked like after you went to the effort of making it easy for everyone to glance at.

It’s not like I looked for information that wasn’t being publicised by its owner or even left this very site. I’ve not even gone as far as to publicise the information you presented on your behalf either. I respect the privacy of others, even when they’re childish and rude.

What’s that Mike? You’re distorting things in order to present a story of something without checking any reliable source? I guess that’s what you do isn’t it Mike? If the facts don’t fit your story, just ignore ‘em!

As for stalking.. well, it’s not like I’m going around copy and pasting things YOU write to giggle amongst my internet friends now is it?

    #90 6 years ago
  91. Patrick Garratt

Am I recent? I’m right now. Can’t get more recent than that.

There’s been more hornless kids than horny kids in this series.

Just means he’s not cursed, or it’s before the horned boys.

    Or (i wish) it’s a different universe.

    #93 6 years ago
  94. Shatner

Pat, recent was one of the criteria that is significant. (A lot of stuff happens in 2 years. Hell, games can go from platform exclusive to multiplatform in a matter of hours.) You persistently refuse to address the others. But, you know, feel free to drop in late and get the wrong end of the wrong stick whenever it suits you!

#83 – MoC, if you do, you’ll only be demonstrating you haven’t grasped my point. A point I’ve repeated numerous times in this discussion and already pointed out that people are tripping over themselves to ignore because they want to suggest I’m saying something I haven’t.

I know you’re passing yourself off as trying to run a games news blog. But save the misquoting and distortion to the professionals, eh?

Don’t worry MoC I know you selectively ignore things when you want to. So you can pretend your misquoting is factual even though you’ve been corrected in black and white! Why bother with facts when your made-up view suits you so much better?!

    #94 6 years ago
  95. No_PUDding

Shatner, I support your Pat persecution until he spills xD

    #95 6 years ago
  96. freedoms_stain

“There’s been more hornless kids than horny kids in this series.”

I recall only 3 kids ICO: horned, Yorda: not horned, Baby Wander: horned

    net: horned > hornless

    #96 6 years ago
  97. No_PUDding

Maybe you shoudl count all the kids.

    ICO: Horned
    Yorda: Not Horned
    Wander: Not Horned
    Mono: Not Horned

There are your pivotal roles. Baby wander is the last 5 mintes and only slightly playable.

    #97 6 years ago
  98. Shatner

#95 – I’m not persecuting anyone. I’ve not pointed a finger at any one individual in respect of this story. You’re distorting and dramatising things unnecessarily. Try not to do that.

My reasons for scepticism is because I wish to avoid disappointment. I’ve been given numerous reasons to mistrust unreliable sources, anonymous sources, sources that exaggerate, distort, mislead and misconstrue. I asked for clarification and got nothing but infantile retorts and belligerance.

I’m in the pursuit of a credible source. Nobody has yet been able to provide one. They just prefer to mock because I won’t blindly swallow information that others prefer to believe.

It’s as effective as writing “LOL” in response to every question in an exam. Sure, it’s a response and you can mock. It’s not actually an answer so it doesn’t really count for shit at the end of the day, does it? It’s just someone trying to act like a smartass.

If anything it further damages credibility instead of repairing it. The only people who think that’s a smart move are those who aren’t in the habit of being held accountable for anything they say.

    #98 6 years ago
  99. freedoms_stain

I wasn’t counting Wander or Mono as kids, young, but not kids.

    #99 6 years ago
  100. Patrick Garratt

Shat – I had no idea what any of you were talking about. Was just banter. You big fun-loving bear, you.

Pud – I was told about the BBC thing a while ago in real confidence. You’ll get nothing from me :D

    #100 6 years ago

Yeah, proabably from the EG guys, but surel you can say if it’s not TRICO right?

    Can’t say anything.

    #102 6 years ago
  103. No_PUDding

Haha… Well, you really have me by the balls.

I don’t give a shit about the game, as long as it’s not TRICO. That’s all I want to be informed of, whether it was TRICO or not.
