Hideo Kojima will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 2009 Game Developers Choice Awards at GDC next month.

The gong “recognizes the career and achievements of developers who have made an indelible impact on the craft of game development,” with previous winners being Sid Meier, Shigeru Miyamoto, Richard Garriott, and Will Wright.

“For years, Hideo Kojima’s contributions to game development have broken new ground and inspired the community to think about creating games in never-before-imagined ways,” said Meggan Scavio, event director of GDC.

“From giving birth to the stealth action game genre to showing game makers how to interact with their players by breaking the ‘fourth wall,’ Kojima’s achievements make him an obvious choice for an award.”

Kojima is keynoting GDC this year with a talk titled Solid Game Design: Making the ‘Impossible’ Possible.

STFU Mort.

Say what you want about the cut-scnes and lack of gameplay in MGS games but the storys are what make it, especially MGS3 (anybody who doesnt like the story in MGS3, run. As fast as you can)

So STFU!

Damn did i hit a nerve or what. LOL @John.

You wouldnt know a story if it hit you in the face! The reality is MGS “stories” went downhill after well… the original MGS. The rest have been self serving odysseys whose sole aim it was to make Kojima-san look like a fucking cinematographer/screenwriter which he fails at big time!

If you enjoyed the crapfests that were MGS 2,3 and 4, hey good for you. But to me they SUCKED, so obviously we have different opinions. So you STFU!

Eh no.

Clearly, your an idiot if you think it went downhill after MGS1.

While I agree with MGS2 (to an extent), if you think the stories for MGS3 and MGS4 were complete bollocks… well, it appears that you wouldnt know a good story if it came up and slapped you.
