Universal and Sony unveil PS3 game vending machine
Universal and Sony have shown off the PoP vending machine, a box that sells you PlayStation 3 games when you’re drunk, seemingly.
The machine sells Blu-rays, DVDs and digital music, which is directly transferable to your MP3 player. Or whatever.
More on Stuff. Gears 2 reviews soon. We’re pumped.

Many’s the time I’ve wanted to buy a PlayStation 3 game when all the shops are shut.

If it had sold kebabs as well then they might’ve been onto something.

Now they only need a cadre of great games to offer and it will be ‘back on track’.

This is a rather nifty idea, and the multimedia capabilities (it isn’t just for games, so narrow views aside) are wonderful. I’d really love to see these around, because the concept is clever, but I do think it’s doomed to failure.
Not because of the concept itself, that’s sound. But in most societies these days, even the UK, crime is pretty much off the charts. And these would be a much easier target for cowardly criminals that a shop.

I saw one of these in my local vue cinema last Tuesday thought it was pretty cool.
Didn’t think about crime and I guess if they are in places such as a cinema or shopping centre/mall (or gyms and universities as I just read;)) they aren’t gonna be accessible all the time or as easy to break into as if they were on street corners.
