Nintendo addresses Wi storage issue with SD cards

Nintendo just announced that it is to allow Wii games to be downloaded from its store and saved onto SD cards.

The move comes as part of the firm’s ongoing Japanese press conference.

Users will be able to use memory cards in this way starting in spring 2009.

Can’t you do this already? I was sure I’d heard people talking about having to copy stuff to SD to make space.

Well I kind of presumed you’d be able to play them from there too, but now people are saying they’re not so sure. In which case that’s a bit pointless.

At the moment you copy it to the SD, and then have to copy it back to the Wii in order to play, this will allow straight play from the card, which is MUCH easier.

That is an improvement then. Although why it would take until 2009 to enable that I have no idea.
