Just to clear this up, SCEE has told us in an email that, “We haven’t announced a release date for WipEout HD yet but we’re targeting Q2.”
The current press material is showing a Q4 date for the 1080p super-racer, so good news. We’re proper excited, specially given that it looks as though there’s going to be plenty of DLC to back it up.
Gavin, if you’re reading this, you have no chance of ever beating us at this game. None.

I downloaded the original for my PS3 to remind myself what it was like in the early days.
In short, it’s still plays superbly but is INCREDIBLY unforgiving. Hitting the sides at all is a real showstopper. I still had the magic though, coming in 2nd in my first race and I remember when I first played it, it took about an hour to even get to grips with the floaty handling.
It kinda encapsulates everything that was good about the Playstation. The great 3-D graphics (stinky pop up and polygon glitching though) and superb choice of music just brought gaming to a completely new generation.

You got into a zone with 2097 on the fastest settings, you don’t notice what you’re doing with the joypad. Ridge Racer Revolution was a bit like that too, the game just took over.
