Survey: UK gamers owners ignoring Wii consoles

A survey of UK gamers found over half of Wii-owning respondants hadn't used their console in over six months.

The survey, conducted by MyVoucherCodes and reported by Gamerzines, polled 1,672 British gamers and found 64 percent owned a Wii - but 48 percent of that demographic had not used the console for half a year.

Reasons given for the console's neglect include lack of time and waning novelty value.

Of those gamers who had used their Wii, 39 percent had done so purely to play Wii Fit, which was released in April, 2008.

While the survey's results certainly resonate with detractor's perception of the Wii, the survey's sample size cannot be considered representative of the UK's extensive Wii user base, which passed 5 million in late 2009.
