No Pokemon on the Switch (yet), E3 Is Our New Religion for a Week or So, and the Rest of This Week's Headlines

ENDING CREDITS | Taking a look a back at this week's headlines and everything else you might have missed on USgamer.

This article first appeared on USgamer, a partner publication of VG247. Some content, such as this article, has been migrated to VG247 for posterity after USgamer's closure - but it has not been edited or further vetted by the VG247 team.

Oh man. There's no more hiding from it. It's E3 time.

Brace yourself!

Here it comes!

We talked it over, and we decided USgamer won't be covering the show. All the hustle and bustle would just get in the way of our Clash of Clans articles – ha ha. Yeah right. We're all over E3 like overalls on Mario.

Stay with us over the weekend and through next week. Better still, get a head start on the show with the E3 coverage we've published so far:

  • E3 Conference Times, Rumored Game Reveals, and Everything Else You Need to Know
  • E3 Preview: The 10 Biggest Games to Watch For
  • Xbox E3 2017 Preview: More Than Scorpio, Microsoft Needs Games, Games, Games
  • PlayStation E3 2017 Preview: Bloodborne 2 May Appear, But This E3 Will be More About the Present Than the Future
  • Nintendo E3 2017 Preview: What We're Going to See, and What We Want to See

But this week wasn't just about E3 prep, even though it sure felt like it was. Here are the other headlines, features, and oddities you might've missed over the week:

  • There was a Pokémon Direct on June 6, and we all assumed it'd reveal Pokémon Stars for the Nintendo Switch. Ha ha. Sike. We're getting Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for the Nintendo 3DS. But as Kat and I discussed on the Blood God 'pod this week, that's really not a bad thing.
  • The Pokémon train continued to barrel along this week with news about celebrations for Pokémon GO's first year. Matt also published an excellent piece about the cheating epidemic in the community. The drama never stops in the Pokémon fandom.
  • Bubsy's coming back. I say it's all a ruse for ... something. Stay sharp. Everything will probably go wrong.
  • Caty reviewed ARMS for the Nintendo Switch. The gameplay isn't especially deep, but man, Nintendo makes some charming characters.
  • If you're just not feeling E3 this year, you can play Overwatch. You'll get double XP this weekend! Battleborn also went free-to-play (even though it totally didn't, of course). A lot of people have responded to this news with pics of that little kid from the Simpsons screaming "STOP, STOP, HE'S ALREADY DEAD!", and let's just say the dead party in question is not Overwatch.
  • If you're not into E3 or shooty-shooty multiplayer games, give the Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind expansion a try. Mike reviewed it this week.
  • Finally, Mr Parish, the hallowed kirin of games journalism, wrapped up his Design in Action feature with the final piece of his Shovel Knight dissection.

This week's ending credits song is "Cold and Dark," which accompanies one of Breath of Fire II's bad endings (yeah, "one of." Not a cheerful game).

Ryu. When your mother asks you if you want to kill God, you say "YES."
