Nine things you missed about GTA Online's new DLC
Grand Theft Auto: Online gets brand new high-end vehicles, clothing and weapons next week, finally allowing you spend all that cash you earned playing through Heists.
Rockstar released a bunch of screens yesterday showing off the obvious headline additions - new vehicles, bodywork wraps and a vile gold-plated private jet. But there's a lot more to it than the obviously vulgar. You know about the engraved weapons and fur coats, right?
Rockstar teased Ill-Gotten Gains weeks ago
YouTube is full of videos talking about "leaked" content coming to GTA Online, and the majority of it turns out to be nonsense. Zombies? Never happened. Casino update? Still wishful thinking. So it's kind of ironic then that Rockstar leaked the name of its latest DLC months ago in a public Q&A and no one noticed, even after it highlighted it in italics. Thanks Yan2295.
Engraved weapons
We know Ill-Gotten Gains is bringing at least one new gun, the Combat PDW. But take a close look at the pistol in this screenshot from a few weeks back and you'll see further customisation. We can already buy tinted colours for our weapons at Ammu-Nation, but from next week it looks like we'll be able to have decorative decals added to barrels, stocks and silencers as well. That, my friends, is a gun tattoo.
Expect 100's of new clothes
New clothing usually means hundreds of colour variations on familiar styles, and when you're hit with new screens showing off cool cars, you tend to overlook the little details. But there's good reason to be excited about new outfits next week. Nothing says "I've got too much money" that a jacket with a fur-trimmed collar. I will buy and wear that on day one. I'm actually hoping for more fur so I look like I'm wearing half a zoo.
The Combat PDW could replace the Bullpup & Micro SMG
It looks like the PDW will be the new go-to machine gun. If it's based on the real-world Knight's Armament PDW it'll hold 30 shorter, heavier rounds. Up close that's going to be brutal. If it's gas-powered as the Knight's Armament is, expect the in-game rate of fire to be very high and give the Bullpup a run for its money. And with a short barrel and folding stock, can we expect to use it in vehicles, replacing the Micro SMG? Thanks longliveblockbuster.
It's not just DLC, but a title update
As well as new gear we should expect some behind the scenes updates too. Hopefully this will kill a majority of bugs that have been plaguing the game for a while. The invisibility hack, the duplication glitches, and all those niggling weird things that pop up on screen that you've gotten used to. Best of all it will kill a bunch of hacks and mods across all formats, so you'll be able to enjoy at least a few days respite from man-babies griefing you just because they can.

Compare the two. The Huayra costs around $1.6 million brand new. That gives you a good indication of how much you'll need in the bank come next week. So of the four cars revealed, what are you going to buy first? Because you won't be able to buy the full set on day one.
You've driven the Albany Virgo before
We know the Albany Virgo is one of the new muscle cars for GTA Online, but it's not strictly new to the series. It seems to be a new take on the Virgo seen in GTA: Vice City Stories, something that resembled a late 70s pimpmobile. You're going to buy it for nostalgia's sake, the same way you bought the Banshee in GTA Online to try to recapture the magic of driving around Liberty City in GTA 3. Rockstar knows how to work you.
Expect new animations
Both the new Benefactor Stirling GT and Pegassi Osiris feature gullwing doors and so to get inside them you're going to need different animations. Does that mean we'll see new animations elsewhere to freshen up the game? Without dialogue, characters speak through their actions. Remember how Rockstar added new walking styles and facial expressions for selfies? We'd welcome a bunch of new physical animations to give our online crooks a little more life.
You can't buy taste
Nothing about the next update is particularly tasteful. How much are you willing to pay for the same private jet with a gold skin? The design of the majority of this DLC content is nasty because it's supposed to be. It's about flaunting your wealth obnoxiously, not showing off refined taste. You're meant to look at that rip-off Louis Vuitton wrap and be repulsed by the audacity of its ugliness. Embrace it, you terrible people.
