MechWarrior Tactics revealed as free-to-play, turn-based strategy

Follwing a teasing countdown timer, A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games and Roadhouse Interactive have detailed MechWarrior Tactics.

The online multiplayer title is due sometime this year, and has players battle it out in tactical turn based combat.

You’ll be able to earn experience and resources, building a collection of mechs and customisation options. An in-game store will allow you to purchase new resources without having to click out to a storefront.

Being turn based, you’ll be able to participate in asynchronous matches, and the usual suite of ranked games and global leaderboards will be available, along with bigger prizes for higher-ranked players. A cinematic replay will help you relive your glory moments, too.

For more details hit up the game’s bare-bones website, and visit its Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks, Shack.

  • Sins of a Dark Age Founder Edition unleashed

Infinite Game Publishing and Ironclad Games are teaming up to bring players Sins of a Dark Age Founder Edition.

MechWarrior Tactics

  • MechWarrior Tactics now in closed beta, buy-in entry available

MechWarrior Online a bit too overwhelming for you? Maybe you’re more of a general than a front-line grunt, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of, kid. Consider checking out the newly-launched closed beta for MechWarrior Tactics, a free-to-play, turn-based strategy affair more suited to brains than being blown up in a lumbering suit.

  • Mechwarrior Tactics to feature cinematic replays, social support

A Joystiq preview from GDC has reported that Mechwarrior Tactics will feature cinematic replays after matches as a whole in the strategy title. You’ll be able to upload replays from the game to friends on Facebook, YouTube and Friendster. Tactics launches this year.
