Rome 2 pre-orders “six-times” that of last Total War game, series had 2 million sales in 2012
SEGA has announced that Total War: Rome 2 is the fastest pre-ordered Total War game to date, with over six times the number of pre-orders its first official week compared to Shogun 2. The Collector’s Edition has also pre-ordered well, with over half the available copies already sold out in the US. The firm also said Total War sales hit 2 million last year “without a major release,” to support the series. Those who pre-order the strategy title get the first DLC, The Greek States Culture Pack, free on the day of release. Rome 2 is out September 3.

Total War: Rome 2 adds Egyptian faction
The latest faction for Total War: Rome 2 has been revealed the “independent, powerful” Egypt. These successors to Alexander The Great’s legacy and the rulers of Ptolemaic Egypt bring “Hellenistic fighting prowess to north Africa, with serried ranks of fearsome pikemen, devastating scythed war-chariots and terrifying war-elephants.” Yikes. Despite their prowess in batt;e, though, they are also well-versed in statecraft and diplomacy, so know thine enemy etc. You can find out more on the Egyptian faction through the game’s wiki. Rome 2 is expected sometime in 2013 for PC.

Total War: Rome 2 developer – PS4 “an adapted PC”, proves PC gaming isn’t dying
The Creative Assembly has always been a supporter of PC gaming, and is one of the first to defend the system when claims that it is “dying” come up. Now that PS4 has been revealed, Dom Starr, the campaign designer of Total War: Rome 2, says the console being “an adapted PC” is further proof that PC gaming is not even close to being in its death throws.

Total War: Rome 2 assets show new features, Battle of Teutoburg forest
SEGA has sent over a video featuring the Battle of Teutoburg forest in Total War: Rome 2 The video also demonstrates the game’s new true line-of-sight system, deployable battlefield tech, and ambush scenarios. Some lovely new shots were also sent over as well. Rome 2 is expected sometime in 2013 for PC.

Total War: Rome 2′s latest faction reveal is the Arverni
The Arverni have been revealed as the latest faction for Total War: Rome 2. You ca find out more on the Gallic tribe through the game’s wiki. The tribe is “feared and respected among all the barbarian factions,” due to their fierce warriors and an understanding of gold-working and metal craftsmanship. Gallic tribes sacked Rome in 390 BC and “terrorized much” of the Aegean as recently as 279 BC, and invaded Thrace, Macedon and Illyria. Have a look at the faction below. The Iceni faction was revealed last week. Rome 2 is expected sometime in 2013 for PC.

Total War: Rome 2′s latest faction reveal is the Iceni
The lasted faction reveal for Total War: Rome 2 is the Iceni. These fellas are a “violent tribe from the south of Britain,” sporting body-paint and they are “renowned for their use of highly maneuverable chariots in battle.” A screenshot of the faction is below, and more information on the faction can be found through the Total War: Rome 2 wiki. Only four more factions to be revealed, again, if the wiki is any indication. The game is expected sometime in 2013 for PC.

Total War: Rome 2 – latest playable faction revealed as the Macedonians
The Macedonians have been revealed as the next playable faction for Total War: Rome 2. A shot of the Shield Bearers infantry unit is below. In the game, the Hellenistic nation yearns “to return to the glory-days of Alexander The Great,” but it is hemmed in by other Greek city-states which aren’t very trusting of Macedon due to its past; therefore, players will have to “work hard to forge local alliances.” You can find out more on the faction through the newly updated Total War wiki. Five more factions are yet to be revealed, if the webpage is any indication.

Total War: Rome 2 – first playable faction revealed
Total War: Rome 2′s first playable faction has been revealed as the Romans and SEGA has said more factions will be revealed in the “coming weeks and months.” The strategy title will feature Greco-Roman, Barbarian, and Eastern cultures, each with its own agents and political system. Faction trees will represent civic, military and engineering disciplines, with each civilization facing internal dilemmas. Certain factions such as Rome, will be split into a number of playable families each with unique benefits which can be applied to their base faction traits. Total War: Rome 2 video shows nine minutes of gameplay
Total War: Rome 2 is coming next year from The Creative Assembly, and Gamespot has posted nine minutes of gameplay footage featuring the battle of Carthage. Game’s expected sometime in fall 2013 on PC. Thanks, Evil Avatar.

Total War: Rome 2 won’t have always-online, but will require Steam
Total War: Rome 2 will require Steam in order to quell piracy issues, but The Creative Assembly is stopping short requiring always-online for the title.
