Released: Assassin’s Creed 2, God of War Collection, L4D2, others

assassinscreed232

Good Lord, what a massive day in game releases. Those with fat wallets will be having a field day, swimming around on the floor with all their lovely games.

The rest with anorexic wallets will just have to pick one and wait on Santa to bring more – or get some from a very giving stranger driving a van. He may look a bit mad with that hair and strange gleam in his eye, but the clown mask beside him on the passenger’s seat with fishing line and surgical gloves says “good times ahead” and you know it.

Here’s a list of the games that are out in the US today with European dates beside ‘em if different:

  • Assassin’s Creed 2 (PC in 2010) (Nov 20)
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • LittleBigPlanet PSP
  • Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (Nov 27)
  • God of War Collection (2010)
  • Tony Hawk: RIDE (Dec 4)
  • NCAA Basketball 10 (NA)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines (Nov 20)
  • Scene It? Bright Lights! Big Screen! (Dec 4)
  • Chaotic: Shadow Warriors (NA)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Tagforce 4 (NA)
  • LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues (Nov 20)
  • The Sim 3: World Adventures Expansion (out yesterday actually) (Nov 20)
  • SingStar Latino (TBA)
  • Planet 51 (Nov 27)

There may be more, and if we missed any, just let us know.

RE: The Darkside Chronicles goes Tofu mental with western outfits

redarkside

Capcom has announced that tofu mode is back in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles as an unlockable in the game.

However, this time, instead of taking on the character of tofu, you now shoot the tofu into bits. Yummy.

There are also new costumes. For instance, you can dress Claire as a cowgirl, like in the pic shown above, or as a “biker” with ample cleavage. Oh you can dress Leon up too, but what’s the fun in that?

We have the rest posted below the break along with the videos for tofu and the outfits.

The game is out next week on November 17 along with everything else.

Resident Evil producer says mature games on Wii need X-Factor

redarkside2

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles producer Masachika Kawatadult has told Videogamer that Wii games need an ‘X-Factor’ to sell.

No, not that kind pervies. Nor the show either, for that matter.

While he contends that mature titles for Wii need this “factor”, he does not exactly divulge what it constitutes and also admits that it’s a hard console to “deal with”.

“People get this perception that on Nintendo Wii all there is are cutesy games,” said Kawata . “However, when you actually try to develop a game on Wii it costs you money, it’s time consuming and it’s not the easiest console to deal with.

“There are good games that didn’t sell, obviously. You need an X-Factor. However, vice versa people won’t buy it if it’s not a good game.

“I don’t think that Resident Evil was the only exception selling on Wii. There are other hardcore titles, such as Call of Duty, which were quite successful on Wii as well.”

The Darkside Chronicles may or not see a 2009 release

redsc

GameStop has Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles down for a November 17 release.

The retailer originally had the Wii-exclusive listed for March 2010, and Capcom also still has it listed as such.

“Capcom has yet to announce an official release date for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles,” an official spokesperson told D’toid.

Trailers and marketing materials for the title state a Winter release which could mean either November or March.

So it looks like winter is where it’s at, regardless.

The Darkside Chronicles features dynamic difficulty system

darkside

Capcom has implemented a dynamic difficulty feature in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles to give players a bit of a run for their money, or an easy ride through Raccoon City.

The game will gauge your shooting skills and make appropriate adjustments to challenge you, which means that being good at head shots will make pulling them off a bit more difficult.

Also, if you find you are intolerable at it, the game will ease up a bit.

Should be good for those of us who can’t aim for scat with the Wii remote.

Ada Wong to appear in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

adaFamitsu reports that Ada Wong is to make an appearance in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

This time around though, Ada will appear with Claire Redfield instead of just Leon.

Probably a no-brainer move to anyone who has played Resident Evil 2, especially considering how closely tied it is to Darkside Chronicles.

It was previously revealed that Sherry Birkin will make an appearance as well.

Kawata: Darkside Chronicles goes “back to a very dark style RE”

darkside

Speaking at last night’s Resident Evil 5 launch party in San Francisco, Capcom dev Masachika Kawata told attendees that Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles will hearken back to the darker, more horror-style of REs past.

“What we’re looking to do is go back to a ‘very dark’ style of Resident Evil,” Kawata said.

“‘Dark’ is really a key word for this game. It will be shown in horror, in the storyline, in the emotions that the characters go through.”

Showing clips of Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy in Racoon City, circa Resident Evil 2, he mentioned that the development team is “putting a lot of care, a lot of attention into how the camera system works in a rail-based shooter.”

These camera improvements were shown by way of “dramatic point-of-view shots of zombies feasting and the player narrowly escaping death with their partner’s help”.

Sounds appealing.

More information on the game is expected later in the year.
