Puzzle & Dragons has been downloaded 2 million times in North America, GungHo Online Entertainment has announced. The game has been downloaded over 21 million times combined in Japan and Korea. GungHo plans to release Puzzle & Dragons Z on 3DS in Japan this fall, and there are plans to release it in the west at some point as well. Last week, the firm reported its financials for the quarter, noting a decrease in revenue and profits by 55 and 12%, respectively. Thanks, Siliconera.

Thanks in no small part to mobile phenomenon Puzzles & Dragons, GungHo has a pretty absurd operating profit margin — 57 percent or so this past quarter. But with revenue and profits down 5 percent and 12 percent, respectively, quarter over quarter, the companies price fell sharply this week.

GungHo Entertainment has been striking it rich in the past year thanks to the huge success of their mobile gem-matching RPG Puzzle & Dragons. Japanese telecom giant SoftBank, which already had stake in the company, will be picking up an additional 73,400 shares, bringing their interest to 58.5 percent of the company.
